here is a question... how many of you ONLY collect Alt/BTs?

I would have to say so, thought I will buy certain figures from toehr seires if they interest me. I've bought unicron, Energon Downshift ans shockblast. Actually, I do collect the reissues too, but hte Alts are the only new toys I regularly buy

I don't collect Alts only, but if I had to chose one line to buy this would be it.

I see BT/Alts as a gift to us Gen-Xers who are well beyond our teen years, have a good deal of discretionary income, and are looking for a good dose of nostalgia that we can't quite get from the regular toylines focused (and rightly so) on a much younger demographic.

I see it as a "gift" because of that "6 model" limited run type attitude the line began with. All other lines has a full product spread to go with it, including cartoons, clothes, and party accessories. Did BT/Alts even get commercials? I don't recall seeing any here in Canada (not that that would surprise me).

So, they've been making changes to the line in response to the unexpected popularity of it. For that I commend all you non-Gen-Xers who jumped at the chance to buy this line.

Thus I'm not sure that any Decepticons were planned, so the fact that the current 'cons are repaints may be a direct result of that. Once they decide on the continuity of this line they will almost assuredly fix that.

Same goes for the cartoon/movie narrative. Perhaps another reason why we didn't get one is because they might have assumed we were "too old" for cartoons, and it wasn't a lucrative enough concept to create a movie for. But again once we spoke out (with dollars and text) they began looking into it, and now we have something on the horizon.

And a small note on the "playability" of these toys. I display them. I simply don't have the time anymore to play as I used to so to have cool looking display guys that I can fiddle with now and then is just fine by me.

If I do have time to play, I usually play with the cheaper and quicker to transform Energon guys. I'm satisfied with that division.

Just my two energon cubes.

I obliously offended you Deathmarch with my 'what you smokin' "bs". Sorry man, just a little humor. The TFans sure are a tough bunch! I appreciate your enthusiasm though.

Understood your original intent on the fandom's opinion.

Peace my friend.

No you didn't offend me KT...not at all it was others on this thread and mainly myself I was upset at.

I screwed up on MY OWN point, and now everyone thinks I'm an idiot who only views things in box-sizes, which wasn't my point, nor my view. My point was that they've not shown us any larger figures and larger figures cost extra materials and yet they've reduced the box-size, so they are cutting cost there already. That was just a concern I had, but I didn't get my point across well at all. So now I assume 1/2 of the fandom thinks I'm an idiot, but whatever...

So no one's feelings got hurt at all, no biggie pal.

And Since I have yet to respond to my own thread's TRUE topic...I love Alternators/Binaltech with a passion. I have even wrote my own fanfic and drew my own 16-page comic about it. I like almost every aspect about it, but I do think they need to make serious changes soon, or I do see them running this toyline into oblivion. I don't think the 'Cons can stand to be nothing but repaints for another year and I definitely don't think they can only make sporty cars and keep a large fanbase going.

I'd like them to keep going, but they'd better inject a LITTLE more creativity if they want it to survive...

Yeah, I think we're on the same page. Decepticons as repaints really sucks and is not what I was thinking when the line started with those tantalizing pics of Swipes and Smokes with Prime from those JPN mag shots.

When Ravage came out, I was like, "wow, they really have hit bottom with the Decepticons in this line". I'd rather not see Decepts here than to have effortless Decepticons as repaints.

The original molds are very cool and you can tell a lot of thought went into them. If I was an engineer for Tak and spent many sleepless nights and OT on weekends to come up with a cool engineering marvel, I'd be pissed if my boss said to paint it black and slap a cat face on it.

I think each Decepticon release, in a way, is a detriment to the line overall. BTALTs should be Autobots; HasTak can come up with a different line and have Decepticons. Heck, I'd even settle for fewer Decepticon releases if they're gonna be bigger to stay in 1/24 scale.

How does everyone think of fewer Decepticons if they're gonna be military vehicles which fit their G1 personalities like the cars fit the autobots? I'd settle for 5 if given the choice between in-scale military Decepts (bot modes in scale with the Autobots) over a crap load of repainted autobots:

1) Megs/Galv as a M1 Abrams or M2 Bradley;

2) Soundwave as an armored patrol Humvee;

3) Starscream as an F-15 which is THE backbone strike fighter/bomber workhorse of the airforce TODAY;

4) Scourge as an A-10 Thunderbolt;

5) Shockwave as an Apache with the chain gun somehow becoming his arm gun.

But that'll never happen.

Or if they were to keep them 1/24, then have the Destructicons or a few of them combine to become the mammoth Abrams or Bradley. Would solve the issue of trying to find all of them by having it packaged as the combined tank form in 1 box. Yeah expensive, but so is buying the stupid repaints they call Decepticons now. You all know you'll eventually spend the same amount anyways when the day is over, so might as well get what we want with our dough.

And with that, that's pretty much my opinion.

Happy Holidays!

i love this line but i have similar complaints with the decepticons i hate dead end's head. i dont like ravage and i think shick wave should have been held off on till they decide on if military vechiles are a possibility or not

I like Alts. The Decepticons have, though, been disappointing. It was clear from the outset that these were supposed to be updates of the G1 toys, or at the very least carry their character. A toy like Alt Ravage does not carry Ravage's character just because it carries a similar head. Same for Shockwave. Dead End was cool though, except he should have been bordeaux red like the original.

I'm not Outback like some, but I will be pissed if they give any of the Seekers' names to a car. They've got plenty of Decepticon characters they could use with a car altmode: Runamuck, Runabout (two versions of the same mould, no Bot for that mould), the Stunticons, Crankcase, Ruckus, Roadgrabber, Roadblock, Blackjack, Hyperdrive, Detour, Roadhugger, Jaugar, Barricade, Groundhog, Rollerforce, Motorhead, Rabbicrater...I know some of these are pretty obscure, but better an obscure name (they don't use any backstory anyways for the Alts, so it's just a name), than using a name like Thundercracker or Starscream or Megatron on a car.

I agree with you 100% there pal.

I realyl do hope they make Runabout and Runamuck, I've been wanting them ever sicne they announced this toyline was gonna have Decepticons.
