And yeah, Masterpiece Megatron would have to be a tank or something.  Even if he did turn into a gun in order to be that scale in robot mode, it would be a huge ass pistol....say, maybe it would be scale to fit in a Tf's hand like the cartoon....

That's a good point. Couldn't hasbro make a toy gun that was realistically STYLED, but twice the size of a real gun?

I'm not normally a whiny fanboy, but I still find it a disgrace that they're repainting Prime into Magnus.Calling this one a "Masterpiece" is like making an exact copy of a Rembrandt or a Picasso, but just changing the color scheme and claim it as a "Masterpiece". It's just contradictory to the name of the line.

 

I agree with one guy's suggestion: Just re-release Prime again. I know a lot of people are still itching for Prime, and were really disappointed that Takara stopped production after a few months. If they want to aim at the crazy completist collector department, release some variants, like new weapons or something.

I want something like this.

 

I'm thinking snap on parts, two halves that fit over the figure. The legs would be more akin to comic Magnus and snap over the other legs.

-Chest

-Arms

-Pelvis

-Legs

 

Plus better accessories.

 

I'd love to say I never got tired of seeing TF fans flip out over every little thing that comes down the line, but when it all can be so easily summarized as something being repainted and enough peoples' heads exploding that property values go down (WOO! Yay lower mortgage!!!)... every other week it seems... it's gettin' old.

 

I don't see this as a big deal personally. Actually, I enjoy this mold so much I could scream. Seriously. It's easily the best Transformer figure ever and if they're going to make the effort to squeeze out a DW accurate brother in arms, I'm more than happy to kick ol' Takara another $100. Granted, I'll need to clear out shelf space and lighten my collective load, but this is the kind of figure that deserves it.

Yep, and Mp-4 will be powermaster Prime: The megaton gun will be replaced by another handgun, they will paint his hands red and part of the lower arms blue, and there you go.

Yeah, Tekyuinajar, you'd imagine as a fandom we'd get used to all this stuff at this point. I just got back into tF heavy like 6 weeks ago. At first I was like some purist, that TF's had to be the way I remembered, then I realized that I just wanted them to be kick ass.

 

After I read the DW comic where he broke out of his armor to take out Shockwave, I was like, "Ultra Magnus is awesome! I'd love to see a good representation of this version of him, and now I have one."

I'd have no problem if this were an e-Hobby exclusive or something, but to me this reduces the uniqueness of MP Convoy. By a lot. And since this is supposed to be Ultra Magnus, isn't it kind of a ripoff to just get part of him -- a part that only appears in the fanboygasm DW comics? To me that's like Takara releasing Omega Supreme, but just the tank part.

 

Plus, $100 for a repaint? Whoo.... no thanks. :wtf

And why should the armor be a lucky draw item?

 

In fact, shouldn't they complete optimus by giving him a trailer before they even THINk of doing UM?
