STOP MOTION ANIMATION WITH ALT TOYS

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I'm experimenting with stop motion filming on my TRANSFORMER toys. Transforming walking and driving. So far it looks pretty neat, but also reminds me of Gumby a little bit! Anyway I'm using Alternators and G1 Toys right now. The alternators are posable as hell, almost too posable. Everytime I move the leg in each frame another body part moves as well, causing a choppy movement. SO! Any body Have any suggestions as to how to tighten all the joints and hinges on any alternator figures? I Thought maybe puting some lite glue on the hinges and every five minutes keep moving the hinge to get the glue in the hinge to be more sticky. When I'm finished I will post the video. :tflaugh1

neat idea, can't wait to see the final video

Clear nail polish.

I currently prefer Sally Hansen's "Dries Instantly" 30-second top-coat. (used--usually--for coating nail polish to avoid chipping).

It works VERY well with one or three light coats, and literally dries in 30 seconds. :thumb

So far, I've used it successfully one ball/socket joints, the door "wing" extensions on my Alt Meister (a little bit on the slider track) and I think I may have used it on a couple hinges, but they were ones that snap together. I dunno about pinned hinges.

I wouldn't recommend plastic/model glue, though. That stuff works by melting the plastic slightly. (with plastic models, this causes a bond between the parts)

Let us know when we can see something.

i just put blue tack behind the joint out of shot for my collige stuff

Thought about it myself actually. But I would probably try and do something ambitious and totally fail in the process, like making them transform in stop motion.. that requires real skill.. ;) .. beside it being next to impossible for some figs.
