More Alt Wheeljack/Downshift Pics

Seriously though, dude, doesn't this wheeljack look like a kitbash? I know you said you wanted one and that the mustang would be best but i think the robot mode was much better suited for grimlock. The whole "wheeljack head" thing seems a bit thrown on as an afterthought.

HAHA! I knew you'd get sucked in! :clap

Maybe so, but the head sculpt is really cool though. I'm still calling "Brakedown" on this one though.

As for Sunstreaker, well, Hasbro have been rumoured to be in discussion to release him as a limited edition with a US retailer..so if thats true, it kinda leaks lubricant over your argument, doesnt it?

Actually what Hasbro stated at the OFTCC was that they weren't planning on doing any Alt store exclusives at the moment, but if they do one, a Dead End repaint as Sunstreaker will be the most likely candidate.

One thing: although, we love the BT/Alts, I wonder if a store would even want an exclusive Alternator, considering the way Smokes and 'Swipe have been cluttering shelves all year. I think it would be a difficult sell (as I bet the profit margin on the Alts is less than figures from the other lines).

PS - What the hell does PWNED mean?! These terms just keep sneaking up on me and I'm not that old!

heh, took me a while to figure it out too but I believe pwned is a misspelling (perhaps purposely sometimes) of owned. Some people misspell "the" too and type "teh" (again, some do it purposely). Why? *shrugs*

The most widely held theory is that "pwn" originated from a typo in first-person shooter games, the common mistake occurred from a hand position. The user, using his mouse right-handedly, would hold three of his fingers on the keys, "a," "w," and "d," along with the mouse in his right hand. When prompted to make a comment upon fragging his opponent, a quick motion to type the word "own" resulted in a typo. Due to the proximity of the keys on a standard QWERTY keyboard the user hit the "p" instead of the "o" key, resulting in the word "pwn."

Teh is a common typo for the. This misspelling of the most common word in the English language is so common that it is one of the words in the auto-correct lists of spell-checkers in popular word processing applications, such as Microsoft Word or Corel WordPerfect. In the online slang known as Leet, it is deliberately used in place of the word the. Here it is often spelled with a numeral 3 in place of the E, when simple "th3" is not used. For example, TEH or T3H are the traditional spellings of "the" when part of the phrase "PH33R T3H ____". This is also used by many non-l33t Internet users and in a few Flash videos.

Besides being an alternate spelling of the, teh also has grammatical properties not generally applied to the. It can be used with proper names, as in "teh John"; compare the usage of the definite article in Greek: ο Ιωαννης, literally "the John".

Like in English, teh can be used as an intensifier for adjectives coming from the superlative form. Teh takes this a bit further, applying this in a somewhat sarcastic form. in "That is teh lame" means "That is the lamest thing" which should probably be interpreted as "That is quite lame".

Compare standard English constructions like "Blessed are the meek", but note that unlike the, teh creates singular as well as collective nouns.

Teh is often used in all caps and with other jocular misspellings.

The intentional use of teh is especially characteristic of the writings of Jeff K., who likely popularized it.

Jeff K. is one of several fictitious update writers for the popular website Something Awful. Created by Something Awful founder Rich "Lowtax" Kyanka, Jeff K. is a parody of teenage Internet users, particularly script kiddies and online gamers. Kyanka has mostly abandoned the character, since users who seriously speak in Jeff's fashion barely exist, and the parody of leet is far more widespread and tired-out. However, Jeff K. appears to have come out of his retirement, with a review of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas published recently.

Claiming to be a "l33t hax0r" (an elite hacker in leetspeak), Jeff K. is known for his horrible spelling, joining words to create insults such as "clownboat" and "asshat," and bad web design skills. He has coined several phrases that have entered more widespread usage in other Internet communities, most notably the phrase "teh sukc" (as in, "encyclopedias are teh sukc", used to express a dislike for encyclopedias). "Asshat" has also begun appearing as pejorative slang in other online forums like fark.com. Contary to popular belief, JeffK never replaced letters with numbers in his sentences. He was just a consistently bad speller.

Other sites sometimes join in on the joke, and pretend to be hacked by Jeff K. The features on Jeff K.'s site are a mixture of game and film reviews, previews and interviews. Jeff K. also draws "Wacky Fun Computar Comics", which occasionally imitate popular computer- and gaming-oriented web comics such as Penny Arcade and User Friendly.

The name "Jeff K." might be a reference to Sun software engineer Jeff Kesselman, who is notorious for making frequent spelling mistakes, such as "teh" and similar, in newsgroup and forum posts.

The fact that there is blue tracks proves what Im saying.  Blue isnt the "official" colour for the car and demand for the blue tracks enabled us to get supplied with a blue tracks.  The fact the flames are a sticker is neither here nor there.  Its supplied and proves that the idea of G1 accurate toys is marketable.

I am pretty sure the yellow Tracks would sell just as well if Blue version never came out. :roll

Corvette do come in that blue.

Say what you must, but the color of the toy ultimately lies in the hands of the car corporation, not the fans. Fans can Starscream all they want for a G1 deco Subaru Smokescreen, and say Hasbro is willing to make it, do you think Subaru would allow that?

My guess is, HasTak always went for the Blue, but Chevy won't budge. Then further down production, Chevy changed their mind. Takara had all the yellow done so they went on the market as is, but Hasbro didn't, so they were able to make the change.

Here's a couple confusing thoughts. Japan initially didn't Starscream as much as the rest of the world, so they got their yellow. But then they changed their minds and so they got the blue too? Using the flame as an example, Takara wanted it to be G1, but Hasbro didn't? How did that work out?

Also, what was the point of the Red Meister? Did fans demand that?

The reason Hasbro gave for "thin yellow paint2 seems feasable, but others have suggested that it was also a smokescreen for not officially declaring "the fanboys had one" (the main designer is also meant to be a Tracks fan so perhaps he had a say too0.

Weakest argument by far in your response. How about Zoom Zoom? :wave

Car manufacturers are not agaisnt the idea of their cars having non official paint jobs.   Look at any collection of Hot wheels toys to see that.

Did I say companies were against non-official paint jobs? I'm talking about the Alts/BTs here, real cars is one, if not, 'the gimmick' of the line.

The Smokescreen toy as Ive stated before, is still keeping with his chaarcter.  He was a race car with Nnissan racing trim and sponsors, racing numbers etc.  Now he is a Ssubraru with Subary racing colours, numbers, adverts etc.

I fail to see the point you're trying to make. By your logic, the color and deco being G1 accurate are not important, as long as, might I say, the 'essence' of the G1 bot remains.....and that's my argument isn't it.

Wheeljack is also a racing car...either giving him a G1 style colour scheme or a new racing scheme is the only way to go frankly.

Kinda contridicts your previous paragraph if you ask me.

As for Sunstreaker, well, Hasbro have been rumoured to be in discussion to release him as a limited edition with a US retailer..so if thats true, it kinda leaks lubricant over your argument, doesnt it?

You are forgetting Swindle too. A yellow frigin jeep. People have brought this point up countless of times. The concensus was that Hasbro didn't want to look like an ass and came up with this BS reason.

But I would like to know what argument was I trying to make by stating a fact. Please explain. I simply stated what HASBRO said. Period. That was the official reason, as BS as it is. Check here to see what was said by Hasbro at the OTFCC http://www.TFormers.com/article.php?sid=3304

Again, I don't understand the point you're trying to make here.

It's too early to tell, but I can tell you that I've had a Starscream of a time finding the ones that came after those two. I think they just overstocked on the first two Alts.

But you bring up a good point. We could always see this as a convention exclusive, if nothing else.

Uhhhh "BrakeDown"? As in breakdown and buy it? Me too but you know i buy all the alternators. Let's not forget who had dead end when somebody else was saying they wouldn't buy it out of protest.

I don't care how much a figure sucks, i hate holes in my collection. I'd rather just not buy them anymore.

Now to play with some emoticons....

Also, what was the point of the Red Meister? Did fans demand that?

As for red Meister i think Mazda demanded that one

Exactly.

After thinking a bit, I think I've came to the conclusion as to how HasTak and the Car brands function.

If the company demands a specific color that is in contrary to HasTak's wish, then two versions of the toy will be release simultaneously. Most likely only the BT version will get this treatment, as history demostrated (Zoom Zoom and Yellow Tracks). I think that, due to fewer BT's are being made than Alts, it makes sense for the Brand Colors to be strictly BT's. Although I have no proof as of now, the future though will provide the answer.

Initially, HasTak probably didn't think of this solution, which was why Tracks was yellow. Then as Meister began production, the solution of having two colors came about. HasTak went back to Chevy, told them the idea and Chevy approved. But by now the yellow BT version were produced while Alt's were not. Hence the Japan got the yellow tracks, then later the blue version.

Don't make me out-smiley you. :tfevil :mwahaha :wtf :usa :monkey :puke

They don't have the rights to the name "Breakdown" anymore, so they'd have to call it "Brakedown," not that that's even, like, a real word. I just see blue and white and think, well, that's who I think of.

BTW I stopped protesting when I finally saw the light and realized that I'd be able to appreciate the Alternators a lot more if I stopped checking them against G1 all the time. Plus it's a black Dodge Viper with pink windows. What's not to like?

And if you don't like holes in your collection you shouldn't have sold me all those Beasties, you friggin' Canuck. :lol
