I'm surprised ford didn't take the opportunity to plaster the side of the toy with their logo, like this:

hmm so people hated DE at 1st and now the majority likes him, none of them truly look g1 to me, close but not really minus Hound they're all different in some way or another. Smokescreen well don't even got say anything, he just has his transformation and head, Sideswipe doesn't transform like he did, Streak is ok but he's not the same car either, Tracks is good in blue but he's different in terms of transformation, Jazz/Meister doesn't have his shoulders right and he swivels at the waist not to mention there's no wing, Grimy's a car, Swindle is trailbreaker, Overdire/Windcharger well i can't speak on him because i'm not to familiar with the g1 characters, Ravage is a car too, Shockwave is a car and he's not purple with a purple eye instead of Gold, WJ if that's who this is is no different than the others, he's different from g1, regardless of what they've changed, they're giving us this great line that looks good and realistic alt modes, i think we should just sit back relax and waste the money like we know we're going to do when we find them.

Ravage is the only figure I have a Problem with. They could have given him claw at least on his forarms and toes. He looks too much like a Black Tracks with a cat head. If he came out first and then they made Tracks that would be one thing but He's definitely not as excusable as Dead End. Silverstreak looks more different.

All of the other figures I liked almost immediately. Even Grimlock, Swindle, Shockblast, Red Meister and Yellow Tracks.

Plus, the Tracks mold is kind of bulky up top for, what should be, a sleek bot mode. He's a Panther for Christ's sake, and the hold upper body (besides the chest) is bulk. I don't like SW, but I hate Ravage.

The color scheme is based on the Shelby paint job on the Mustang. There won't be a color change, unless repro labels are done (hint, hint). :tfmad

Many people complaining that the new versions in BT/Alt of those old characters do not have the same decals coloring as before.

I want to ask you all 1 thing: Why you like the old character toys in G1 ? It's because they are really painted as a Real car in 80's. For example, there's really a Nissan Race Car in red and blue for smokescreen. There's really a Rally Car for Wheeljack in white with red/green stripes. We LOVE them, because the toys are so realistic.

Now, no matter what's the base story of Alt/BT going, the toys should keep going ..... reflecting the new style of mordern cars. To me, it is meaningless to have a Subaru WRC but with the red/blue color and numbered as 38.

If someone would prefer the new Wheeljack in his old colourings, 1 way is to do the kitbash yourself. Another way is to ask HasTak to make a Master Piece version for him. Like the Optimus Prime, which have same car mode, same decals, with enhanced transforming scheme and more details function.

To me, I like the new Ford Remold, no matter it is gonna to be Wheeljack or brakedown or what else.

Me too.

This is the difference between the Masterpiece figures (I can say "figures" now that UM is coming) and the Alternators.

MP figures are straight G1 homages with no "updating". If it looked a certain way in the show, it's gonna look that way in the MP version. MP Convoy looks like a truck from the early 80's.

Alts are updated versions of G1 characters, based on their original forms. And there's some leeway in terms of how much an Alt is "based" on its G1 namesake. But to me, the essence of a character is what's important when translating from G1 to Alternators.

Smokescreen is a good example of this -- he should be a race car. (And a *real* race car, just as the G1 figure was, even though that was a Takara ripoff at the time. :redface) Sideswipe as a smokin' red sports car is also fitting. Hound as a Jeep is perfect (true, the G1 figure was a military jeep, but Hound's personality wasn't really "military" as much as it was just "off-road", enjoying nature). And so on (Silverstreak, Tracks...)

Conversely, I have been disappointed with Meister/Jazz for this reason. Jazz should have been a race car. For one thing, his Alt form is just so white. Jazz needs to be more... well... (I'm sorry but I have to say it) "jazzed up." And there's a certain quality in a racing car that makes it feel different from a stock street vehicle. He's the only Alt I would consider using decals on, if I bought him.

All this to say: Wheeljack should have stripes, but who really cares what color they are? If this were "Masterpiece Wheeljack" I would agree that he should have been accented red and green. Because the point would have been to reproduce the G1 figure. That's not the point of the Alternators line.

Wow, I can't believe I'm still having this discussion...

I love Wheeljack, and while I do have issues with the Grimlock mold, those are technical issues and have nothing to do with either character. I would rather have show-accurate G1 Masterpieces, sure, but in a way these updated models are almost cooler. It's like seeing Transformers again for the first time, in a way. I felt that way when I first saw RID and I feel it even moreso now.

That being said, what are those clock things everyone's putting in their sigs supposed to be???
