Bay doesn't care about the fact that DotM has low story substance and plot holes big enough to sail the Titanic through. All he cares about is how much money it made. Hasbro continues to support Bay because is IS very good at getting bums on seats in cinemas and generating truckloads of box office sales. I like the way one critic described ROTF and DOTM -- it's like dangling keys in front of a baby. The baby is enthralled and delighted by the dangling keys at first - but after a while, it soon tires of it; the entertainment value is shallow and lacks long term engagement. The same can be said of ROTF and DOTM... I'll admit it, when I first saw these films in the cinemas I quite enjoyed them and I walked away from these films feeling buzzed. But when I watched them for the second time in cinemas, the buzz wasn't quite as high as the first time. The buzz has dwindled since to the point where I really don't feel the hype that I did when I first saw it. This is so different from watching say the original Star Wars Trilogy where I still get the same thrill when I watch these movies again and again, even though I've seen them for as long as I can remember. In fact, multiple viewings of these movies helped me to understand and appreciate the story even more -- hence the joy of owning the movies on home video format. But when I watch the Transformer movies I don't walk away with a deeper understanding or enhanced appreciation of what I got from the first time I watched it. At best I might notice a few minor things here and there that I didn't notice the first time, but nothing really significant. In fact, Star Wars has been widely studied as a film text by school students, but I would be surprised if any education board prescribed Revenge of the Fallen or Dark of the Moon as a text for senior high school students to analyse. At no point does Bay seem to deeply care about his ART -- i.e. using film medium as a means of telling a STORY.

These are the statements that bring me endless hours of entertainment. The irony alone is priceless. People act like every Transformers series made before was always epic award winning stuff until now. UH...no. Fact is, it NEVER was. EVER.

Tell me where, oh where is there a time in Transformers history where you couldn't find a plot hole that you could drive a truck through?

To me, the success is not simply in the fact that DOTM made over a billion dollars, it's the fact that each movie brought more people to the theater than the previous one did. If the trend were the opposite, then that would be a different story. But the fact that each movie made more money than the one before it is the only standard that investors and studios care about.

Whatever it is that each individual fan didn't like obviously didn't bother most other people who saw it, or they wouldn't have come back.

All this silly talk that Michael Bay doesn't care is pure silliness and should really stop. NOBODY dedicates most of a decade of their lives to something if they don't care about it. Bay takes his craft pretty seriously, you don't get to his place in life if you don't. It's that simple. Who would put hundreds of millions of dollars into the hands of a guy who didn't care? Need to get a grip there.

Art is subjective. Some get it, others don't. Always been that way and always will. Films are art. Some get them, others don't. Quit being so angry that more people got these movies than there are those that didn't and move on. Fact is he bent over backwards to incorporate as many classic elements as he could in order to please the masses of asses that demanded them. Instead of being more grateful for it, like so many in life often do, people complain it wasn't enough. Kind of reminds me of the story I just read of a girl who won a million bucks in the lottery and is still getting her government aid.

One last thing that people tend to forget. For all those people who damn all those involved for not getting someone "better" than Bay. Know this, NOBODY else wanted to do these movies at first! Better or worse than Bay. Even Bay needed time to be convinced and needed a helluva guy to do it. We just as easily could have ended up with the guys who did "Transmorphers" and suffered the same fate.

Remember kids, anything Michael Bay makes is pure crap. Now let's go see his latest movie so we can say how bad it is online.

Then let's go buy the dvd.

And some toys.

And the game.

No f'reals it's crap.

Oh yeah, let me just get this other toy.

Oh man, Bumblebee Snickers...

^ I'm a little guilty of that. I have seen all three movies in theaters and have bought TF1. DOTM was a Xmas gift and Ive NEVER bought ROTF. Even went out of my way to telling family to NEVER purchase it for me. I bought plenty of TF1 and ROTF toys however, but only bought 8 of the DOTM figures. Two Basic HAs, an HA repaint from ROTF, three exclusive repaints (one a repaint from a non-movie toyline), a commander and voyager Megatron. I think I did pretty good sticking to my guns. Especially since Hasbro didn't want to take my money in exchange for some Soundwaves.
