That is one thing that REALLY surprised me. We all know Hasbro LOVES repaints, yet out of the first 2 movies, there's been very few for the Leaders. TF1 had Night Watch Prime, and then RotF had a Prime retool (blades were swapped out for battle hooks) and then Leader Megs, who was really hard to come across here. I was shocked we haven't seen a repaint of Brawl, Jetfire or Screamer (TF1 Megs doesn't surprise me). And especially when you consider the reuse some other molds have gotten *coughVoyagerRatchetcough*

Well both Leader Megatrons got a repaint, and 2007 movie Prime got 2 repaints. One thing to consider though is, the point of the repaint is to get the most out of each mold. When a toy is steadily being stocked like ROTF Leader Prime was, or being constantly used in gift sets (off holiday bonus packs, Costco gift sets, etc.) that pretty much negates the need for a repaint. Then we add in Takara's use of the mold and who knows, maybe a repaint wasn't needed. Jetfire was an odd one out, but I do think he was used in some gift packs as well.

 

Wasn't Leader class Brawl repainted in the desert deco for Movie1, too?

Yep, Leader Brawl had the dessert redeco. Great toy though.

Brawl was a GREAT figure!! But I seriously don't remember Movie 1 Megs having a repaint, or Movie Prime having a third repaint ... you're not talking about the "Premiums" are you? If you are then yeah they did, but I (personally) don't really count them since it was the same figure, just with a little bit more detail and blades instead of a cannon.

2007 megs and Prime had the premium repaints, which had metallic paint and flashier aps. May not be much, but was another deco and release.

Wasn't there three versions of megatron. Maybe 4. There's the first release that's light blueish and the blades in the back are almost pink. Then another one that's the color of the premium. And then the premium..but wasn't there another one that really was blue and white and had ice all over the chest and hands..

It was the handling of Devestator that made me give up in collecting all 'in movie' characters - and just going for leaders. I tried dto make myself like that toy - but it was just so Fugly and then they didn't even have each of the molds out - I gave up. Absolutely no way I'm get'n back into that - no matter how good the movie is. But I could be convinced dto get the leaders - if they at least do these 4 guys well.

 

As far as repaints go, there is truly nothing I loath more in regards to TFers. It drives a completist absolutely insane, and turns me completely off to spending any more money on them.

There was Target exclusive sets of Megs with Final Battle Jazz and OP with some Deluxe class decepticon (who escapes me at the moment). The Megs was coppery, orange, and gray if remember correctly. He kinda had the look of a ship heating up on reentry. It was called "Battle Over Mission City". I think there may have been a Best Buy exclusive repaint too.
