Here's my two cents: Designs change, and that's just a fact to live with. I do think I understand where Lord Atmo is coming from, though (similar to my Megatron design 'issues' that have been going on for far longer; past'em now...back on topic!). From G1 to A/E/C to Animated and now to Prime, there's an obvious evolution (aside from the opinions of 'good' or 'bad'). Bayverse didn't just break that mold, it threw it away, completely, particularly in the head sculp department. Again, I'm not commenting whether that's 'good' or 'bad', that's just the way it is when you make a side-by-side comparison of every SS iteration over the past 27 years...damn, we're getting too old for this $&*#! :lol

 

Ultimately, by now, there's a style for everyone to find some enjoyment with...and that supplies us with plenty of ammunition to agree or disagree OR agree to disagree! :thumb

Well you probably didn't like Starscream up until the movie.

Nope, I always liked the character. I just like the Bay one more.

Then you're not a fan. A true Starscream fan would recognize how wrong the movie design is and reject it. I and the rest of us have done so.

 

If you're a Starscream fan, there's no way you would've seen that Bay abomination as Starscream. He looks nothing like any of the other SSs we've gotten. Therefore he's wrong.

Lies! A true fan would reject this design because it doesn't fit! This horrid thing from the movies doesn't follow tradition and looks NOTHING like Starscream, nor does he emote like him. No true Starscream fan would ever like this awful thing!

Well the movie abomination is both un-Starscream and an insult to what SS is all about. To like such a thing and believe him to be Starscream is another insult to the character

It's difficult to know movie Starscream when he has so few lines.

I have no hate for the character whatsoever. The only character I have hatred for is what I saw in the movie. And since he's not Starscream, then I don't technically hate Starscream.

 

Take after G1? Not at all! Shockwave and Optimus Prime take after G1. This design was a COMPLETE failure of an overhaul that pays ZERO tribute to Starscream. Not just G1, but ANY other Starscream we've ever seen!

 

He doesn't say anything a true SS would say. Given the classic line by G1 SS:

 

"What goes up, must come down! Bwahahahahaaa!!! The harder, the better!!!"

 

What'd this big ugly thing say in the situation? Probably nothing...He would just point and shoot. Like a true grunt would, not an air commander. He takes NO joy in his actions nor does he gloat and taunt his enemies. All of this is are actions Starscream is well known for. Add that to his head that breaks a pattern written in stone and you get a pile of shit with the name "Starscream" wrongfully slapped onto it.

 

And don't try to give me that "realistic movie design isn't gonna be the same" crap. If this was true, Optimus Prime wouldn't have such a G1 build and both Soundwave and Shockwave wouldn't have movie-ized G1 heads. For the umpteenth time, if the less popular cons get homages, Starscream would get them too. And since he didn't, he is NOT STARSCREAM!
