The Hub Site Officially Launched! New Images of Transformers Prime Characters!

Eh, designs don't equal plot. I liked Animated's storytelling and if Prime is close to it in writing, then I'm sold. I like the designs, some of them are a little unexpected, but still neat. I actually really like Arcee being blue, even though my inner dork wants her to be pink, it's a nice change up. I'm always open to new designs, even if they don't always scream a certain character to me.

Exactly! Who wants the same stuff recycled ad nauseaum if the source material is awesome?

I wouldn't use the whole "recycled" designs argument. The character design of Transformers Prime is clearly a blend of both movie and Animated styles.

You misunderstand. I'm not calling TF: Prime recycled. I'm saying it's something new and that's what I like about it. When I talk about the same stuff being recycled, I'm talking about people who can't get over G1 and whine about anything new. Don't get me wrong. G1 is great. I still watch it happily, but if the stuff they are putting out today was just a continuation of G1 I would've stopped watching long ago.

I don't hate any of these designs(don't particularly like them either) just wish starscream was a little bit more g1 or at least looked more like the IDW design...he is to thin and i got a feeling that he is gonna be way under scale!!!

I feel like the autobots had more time with the concept developement and that the cons were just thrown together (soundwave looks just lick the drones frome the teaser clip from comic con)

soundwave, i hate his design but it goes more with his character if there gonna playup him more as a stealthy spy type character...but i guess since he looks the way he does that there will be no Ravage Rumble or frenzy...bummer

i just hope the story is good

Soundwaves bio mentions his minicons (don't think it calls them minicons, though) as his primary weapons.

Well i just hope they do him more justice then Bay did he is a pivotal character and a fan fav so i just hope he is bad ass in the new series thanks for that by the way i didnt read all the bios be fore i posted

I understand, but Transformers Prime not only recycles designs, but it melds two previous Transformers incarnations, the live-action movies and Animated. I look at the new Bulkhead, Arcee, Ratchet, Starscream and Soundwave and I see Animated. I look at Optimus Prime and Megatron and I see the movies. They're not exactly original. Giving Megatron a poor alt-mode is certainly nothing new, in fact it's an unfortunate trend.

I see what you're saying but I don't agree. You can't help but see Animated when you look at Bulkhead, but Arcee is closer to the movies, Ratchet is more IDW than anything else, and Soundwave and Starscream don't fit real well anywhere. Optimus does have alot of movie influence but I don't know where they're coming up with these Megatron designs lately. You can read my previous posts in this thread to get more detailed info on thoughts on Megs if you care to.

Change is stressful, good or bad. These designs are bound to arouse debate amongst the fandom, some core fans are sure to abhor any deviation from traditon. The main factor to consider is, will the series attract a new fanbase?(kids man,its all about the kids). If so, all the better for the best brand there is.Capitalism means cash rules. Its the reason Bayformers are necessary.Hate the live-action movie beast or not, its a necessary evil that generates revenue so lines like C.H.U.G can flourish. I'd wager that the Prime series is on par with or better than Animated which imo melded the mythos better than anything since G1.Spindly Cons or not the Prime incarnation is a vital and natural progression. Woe to the generation TF toons."Outside P*ss?"

Not caring one bit about these designs. The only one I'm liking of these is Bulkhead. If we should get toys from these then I can perhaps see myself getting that figure but not the rest.

But I'm a bit put off by Bulkhead his bio:

Bulkhead's actually kind of sensitive -- as Miko learns when she bonds with him. At first he was a little afraid of hurting his tiny partner, but Miko helped him get over that. Now she even pushes him to do things that sometimes get him into trouble.

They say that a dirty mind is a joy for ever, but this makes Kiss Players sound decent :tfevil

Ok, the Autobots got WAY more attention then the Cons did. I'm actually kinda surprised with how much I like the Bots designs, and to be honest, even Megs looks good imo. However, Soundwave and Starscream are just ... I wanna go cry now! They look half assed and slapped together. Screamers alt mode is decent, I could see that growing on me, but the bot modes of both of them are horrible. I'm all for change, but there is no question they're taking cues from Animated (bulkhead is a near copycat).

One thing I do wanna throw out there is this: Hasbro said a few months ago there'd be no toy line for this series (if I remember correctly), and based off of these designs I actually think that's probably going to be true. Take a look at most (there are a few exceptions) of the designs like Screamer, Soundwave and Arcee. There is no way they could make those into accurate toys portraying both alt and bots modes properly. Most are too spikey. And in the case of Arcee (who I actually really happen to like the design of), when was the last time we saw a motorcycle Transformers where the wheel weren't obviously painful to spot? Hers look like they might be tucked into her calves, but still. As intrigueing as these designs are, I honestly can't see them becoming a decent toyline with accurate alt AND bot modes, one would have to be sacrificed for the other.

Yeah...looks like they've movie-ized the Animated Autobots, Movie Megatron has been 'animated' down...and put little to no effort into the 'stick figures' known as Soundwave and Starscream. But those human characters are detailed down to the T! :roll

It looks like they wanted to create a :animated 2.0, but...this ain't it! I wonder if we'll get two, maybe three seasons out of this? The fandom definitely won't have figures produced on time... ;)

i don't know what to say good or bad ;)

Other than Megatron I do not like the looks of the decepticons either. I like soundwaves alt mode though. It is pimp.

I'm probably the only one to say this, but I am on the fence about Frank Welker doing Megs again. Don't get me wrong, I was excited to see his name on there but I don't know if this is the same Megatron as the old one from G1. I honestly preferred Corey Burtons Megatron as the best so far. I'd even take Leonard Nimoy. I think Megatron deserves a deeper voice in the modern concept of the character. I don't think Welker is going to do that. Im sure he is going to do his iconic Megatron voice and I don't know if that fits this Megatron. Thoughts?

Yeah, I'm a little concerned too. His Megatron voice is a little cartoony (no pun intended. I was worried about Cullen for the same reason for the movie, and he sounded great.

Yeah, Cullen's was nice and deep. Sounded like it came out of a big scary alien robot(Except for "My bad" which I will ignore). Welker is a master of voices so maybe he can do a different take on his original?

What does everyone think of the guy who did the WFC voice? I kinda liked it. It was a reasonable amalgam.
