Fans Cry Out - Murphy Defends Rogers

Recommended Posts

And BTW, let's not forget one very important thing:

There are more writers in Hollywood than there are fat cells in Kirstie Alley's ass. They could have literally picked anyone to write this thing, even some kid out of college who had no credits to his name whatsoever. And instead, they intentionally choose a guy with one of the worst bombs of all time on his résumé?!?

They CHOSE this guy. On purpose.

the story has already been writen i saw the link on thetransformers.net

Do you mean this?

"John Rogers has been announced as the man to write the script for the upcoming Live-Action Movie. Mr Rogers has recently adapted another comic for the big screen, with last summers Catwomen. Now don't panic, because the script is being based on a story by DeSanto (the guy who basically made X-Men 1 & 2 really good), and will always have Steven Spielberg as Executive Producer."

That is helpful to know...

the xmen films both rocked so lets hope he moniters and looksat/changes the last draft :tftongue

Darkman was debatable...Hulk was okay, I'm sure.

But they tanked and are considered bad movies.

Here's another one...

1998's Godzilla.

Against

The Day after Tomorrow

Indepdence Day

Godzilla and ID4 are debatably bad....altho ID4 was a hit, as was The Day after Tomorrow.

Day After Tomorrow isn't also bad? It was the worst movie I've seen in a while, that's for sure.

Has any one here seen the Catwoman movie? I haven't seen it myself so for all I know I could be good. I liked the Hulk and Daredevil Movies so I was shocked when I started reading post on this board about how bad those movies were. This is one of the reasons the internet sucks. Were able to get info so early in advance that it just ruins every thing by the time stuff actually comes out.

To me its kind of like school. When a student get an A its the teacher who gets credit foir it. However, when they student gets an E, they are to blame.

Honestly, I never saw this movie getting a PHAT budget so I guess you get what you pay for.

....an E?

For whatever reason a lot of high schools, including the one I went to, don't give F's they give E's instead. :tfhuh

As for the writer, I'm not going to judge. It's rare for anyone to be a smash hit in Hollywood without having at least a couple of duds. Writers only write they don't actually make the movie and in most cases the people that do are the ones who screw it up.

Personally I like the idea of having a younger writer whose best work is still ahead of him rather than getting someone whose already done their best work and is on the way down. Besides, those who have already written hit movies will probably tend to have a bigger ego that would get in the way, they'd want to tell the story their way and would probably screw it up bad by trying to get too fancy with it.

Everything about this movie is highly sensitive to the fans. I seriously doubt if they can do anything that is sure to please everyone. I think it's time to sit back and just hope for the best.

look as long as there are great big f##k off robots that fight to destroy eachother and don't have to hide themselves from humans then it will be alright

I totally agree with you Bodycount! :thumb Especially about Catwoman being doomed from the get go.  Catwoman is uninteresting material.

I object. What COULD have been:

1) Costumed jewel thief stumbling across a story of some old artifact (Lara Croft style) and now trying to find it first before others do (or being hired by someone to steal the plans for the site of the artifact... etc.). Basically, scavenger hunt à la Lara Croft.

2) Costumed jewel thief accidentally witnessing a murder, now being chased by the police, having to prove her innocence since she's a thief but not a murderer (and bringing down the actual murderer).

3) Costumed jewel thief stumbling across some major conspiracy of whatever nature.

There's so many possible things that could have been done with her unlike that awful, overused "lone avenger" sh**. People should have just noticed that the most interesting thing about Catwoman is that she isn't your standard super-heroine, but instead she is (or better was) a criminal who just had the habit of getting herself into trouble, and then somehow finding herself in the position of helping others - because she's a thief, but she's still good at heart.

That'd be like, you know, taking "Thunderbolts" and removing the whole "villains who started out pretending to be heroes but now actually want to be" premise.

I respect the ability it takes for a writer to write "Puuuurrrrrr" and "Growwwlllll" I'm sure it took a lot of talent.

And the Cosby show in 96, AND the Jackie Chan Adventures. This man is Academy Award material.

Seriously though, I will not judge ANYTHING until I have seen the finished product. Maybe this guy is a HUGE transformers fan and has been waiting his whole life to make this movie. If that's the case, then make us all proud John!!!

For me, Daredevil and Hulk aren't really bad movies. But they have very big flaws. Hulk had most people fall asleep since it took halfway the movie before Banner "hulked out". The Hulk franchise isn't really that popular and the current toyline for Hulk Classics has been cancelled.

Daredevil's actually very cool, but the storyline was very thin and they made Daredevil too Spider-Man, like BC said. I mean c'mon, why does Daredevil become as agile as Spidey, considering it's his senses that are mutated, not his physical capabilities. Kingpin was also very underused, but fortunately Bullseye was the show-stealer.

Hey guys, come on. What's everyone bitching about? They are making a Transformers movie!!! How f'ing cool is that? We should all be glad there will be one that can come out and bomb. For fans like us, this is kingdom come right?

For real, if someone said this was gonna happen 2 years ago we would have all laughed in thier faces. Look around, who can believe we have G1's being reissued left and right, kickass stuff like Alternators being made and all that? Its not like things are bad.

What I am saying is we should be not be whining about this film. So far Hasbro and Takara have really taken things to another level with Transformers and we should be glad there is a film being made at all. Oh and let's not forget the first movie bombed.

I think the only thing I am trying to understand is why? what made him the number 1 pick. If we could get an explanation other than "his script was good for CATWOMAN"(just writing that hurts), I would at least feel a little better. I have been quitely reading these for a long time and I am not trying to go down the "this is gonna suck" road, but I am seriously worried. I know it's a movie and ther are more important things, but damn!!!
