I gotta admit now that it has sunk in after a couple of weeks from the big announcement, I am more inclined to get this Seacon set it if I see it on store shelves and have the spare cash laying around solely that it is a G1 Transformer set. I still rather they release Computron or Defensor as that is more aesthetically appealing to me, but something is better than nothing.

Umm... $222.50 for a used set is drastically more expensive than the $60 that a new set of re-issue Seacons are going to cost. And more expensive than any of the other US gestalts. It's even more than the number you yourself quoted for a recent Monstructor auction. Plus, to speak to the original poster's point, Predaking's a character that I imagine holds more interest for a larger audience than Monstructor or Raiden, given that he actually appeared in both the US cartoon and comics.

 

I can't say for others, but my main reason for liking Predaking more then any other Gestalt is because of the toy, he looks like a muscle building bad ass, who will wipe the floor with any other Gestalt. While Devastators toy looks like a scrawny weakling. The chest plates on Abominus, Computron, Bruticus are oversized. Superion looks like a toothpick. And yes I do have them also. Predaking is also the largest of all the Gestalts.

 

Monstructor in no where near the awesomeness of any of the other Gestalts and is way out of the league of Predaking. Monstructor is actually smaller then G1 Prime He is about the height of G1 Hot Rod. The main reason why he sells for the lets say $185 price range is because he is a rare find. Some times you have to buy the pieces individually then connect them.

For me, its his size, that causes me to not want him, and why I have a hard time accepting him as a Gestalt. Even though by definition he is.

I get what your saying about aesthetics, I understand that completely. I think what Hasbro and Takara are doing, is they are seeing Predaking, Piranacon aka King Poseidon selling for crazy dollars. So they think that if they were to rerelease them. They could make more money by offering the sets for $60, not only will it entice people to buy from them instead of on eBay. its a guaranteed moneymaker

I totally agree with you on Predaking, Lord_Onslaught. That guy is a beast! I wouldn't mind having him in my collection again. Just looking at the toy version of him is intimidating and scary. He is one guy you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley alone. :rofl

 

I only hope that that rumored Takara reissue is true. It would be nice to get him brand new for around $100 bucks or so.

It would be nice if the new Predaking set came with a cape and a head that split in two...
