BT/ALT Decepts

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone:

Quick questions for you all:

Would Military/other-alt-mode Decepticons be OK if the bot modes were similar in size to the current Autobots but would result in out-of-scale alt-modes?

>>This would mean that if a decepticon was a hummer/tank/whatever/let's say jet, then the alt mode would be out of scale.<<

Or...would you rather HasTak take 'steps' to keep as in-scale as possible but not result in Decepts who are 2X as much as their Auto-brothers (i.e. dropping the diecast and make em out of plastic or something?

>>I'm only saying this 'cause' it would keep the price point the same or not too expensive.<<

Me, I would rather they try to keep as in scale as possible, like MPOP who's alt mode is not quite in scale but close enough to the BT/ALT to 'work'. Even if this means going all plastic and having as in-scale as possible tanks, jets, etc that are big enough to 'work' but doesn't result in a Megs or Starscream who makes Prime or the other bots look like dwarfs if they were to strictly stay 1/24.

As is convention around here: Sorry if this topic was posted already.

I'd be all for them being the same size in bot mode and out of scale in alt mode. I don't care if they're "not to scale" compared to each other :P A plane the size of Smokes would kick ass!!!

I'll drink to that! :beer

i say screw scale make the `bots about the same

Why not have multiple sizes for alts? They could make the planes 1:48 and sell them as ultras, as opposed to megas. As long as we have the arial bots to line up with the seekers, I see no problem with different sized transformers.

Gahh, no, keep them all the same size, i am runnning out of space as it is

Amen to that. Unless Hasbro wants to come add a breakfast nook to my room!

Yeah, I was a toss up between same size (same price and build quality) vs. a 'little' larger size (sacrifice metal for plastic and a little more $$). It's tough. Wonder how they'll eventually address the voice of the fan base. They have to realize that Decepts are inherently different than Autobots.

Remember building model planes and stuff as kids (those who made models and stuff). What scale were those planes? I remember having a F-16 which was about 8 or 10 inches in length. That would be a good size I think and still make a bot about the same height as the Autobs, maybe a 'little' taller. That'd be ok and they wouldn't really have to charge more.

But as long as the bots are evenly sized or just a little bigger and look cool and detailed, lets hope their engineers keep an open mind and keep things fresh.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think the scale of the bot modes is more important than the scale of the alt modes when it comes to shelf displaying/ interacting. You can forgive differences in scale when you have an F-16 in one hand and a subaru in the other. As long as the smaller scaled jet doesn't have to sacrifice too much detail to achieve a similarly detailed effect. With current paint app technology, I'd say that would be achievable.

Here's a 1/32 scale tank next to Silverstreak. It's still bigger ( like a tank should be ) but small enough that the bot mode won't be rediculous. They could make a larger price class for the tanks and jets, say $25-$30. They could resize the jets to make them about the same size as the tank. This one could be Megatron, and smaller tank models could be Blitzwing and Warpath.
