G1 Starscream was not a bad ass

Recommended Posts

Why does Starscream have such a fanboy following anyway? Is it just because he's constantly the inferior and fanboys find this easy to relate to? Don't get me wrong, starscream is a cool character, I just don't understand his cult following. Anyone know what prompted it?

I think It's because Starscream and Megatron had the most screen time and lines in the show. Even when Skywarp or Thundercracker where doing stuff the animators would miscolor them in Starscream's colors. All the other Decepticons except maybe the Insecticons, had totally interchangable personalities.

I agree, Starscream did have a LOT of screen time AND character development. But I ALWAYS thought that Soundwave was the coolest decepticon. Good voice, cool look, wicked gimmick, lethal and silent. Plus you knew he would ALWAYS find a way to survive.

Starscream on the otherhand DID talk trash to Unicron "Do it YOURSELF" hahaha, Oh Starscream, U da hilarium.

Actually aside from the Soundwave comment of SS being a missile with a mouth Megatron illustrates why he kept him around and was leader of the seekers in the WW quite well.

"Starscream, understand this. You are a BLUNT INSTRUMENT, to be delivered with direction and force. In this capacity you have few peers. But PLEASE.... leave the thinking to me."

Sweet quote. Do you remeber where it is from?

the war within (WW ;)) issue 2 i think, i got the trade paperback, i read it last night and was surprised no one else had used it in this topic

*agrees with thread title*

Starscream never was nor will be cool

Starscream a badass? Hardly. Starscream was a BRAT!!! You want badass, lets talk Soundwave. He was the strong, silent BADASS!!

But i agree on the point that when I think of Starscream I think G1 cartoon, maybe more because the voice fit his treachery so well.

The Starscream in the DW comics is a little more gangsta definitely, so its hard for me to read and overlay that same voice, so I usually think that in his 'youth' his voice wasn't as girly.

As a matter of fact, when I read the comics I try to imagine the same voices as the cartoon. Sometimes it works, sometimes not because of context. Does anyone else do that? Just me? Okay.

He was more of a spoiled brat IMHO
