April 2010 Burning Questions Session Is Here!

Recommended Posts

The time has come again, ladies and germs. The Burning Questions Q&A is back for another round!

With the relaunch of the Q&A Sessions by Hasbro, they have really limited us in what we can ask, so all of the previous ground rules have been thrown out, so READ THESE CAREFULLY!

1) We are limited to TWO questions only.
2) Some things are off limits, saying that "there are some things that we cannot comment publicly on due to confidentiality, legal or competitive reasons. Examples of these types of questions are ones that relate to the upcoming TV series or movies that have not had details announced yet, “When will X toy be made/redesigned/released?”, Hypothetical scenarios or “what if questions”, Sales/Cost Data, Product Idea Submissions, Potential Design/Redesign and Future Movie/Entertainment."

Here are some things we can ask:
"Topics that are open for discussion are things like Deco Decisions, Current Design Choices, Design Process/Development, Character choices and Redeco/Retooling choices. Also, questions pertaining to past and current Lore/Storyline, Line Strategy and Marketing are open for discussion too."

So, here's what you do. Reply in this thread the question that you've been wanting to ask. You only get ONE POST IN THIS THREAD CONTAINING ONLY ONE QUESTION, so use it wisely.

For Twitter, use the hashtag #TFBurnQ so we can collate them easily.

To make sure your question wasn't one of the questions we submitted, read Part I, Part II, Part 3, Part IV, and Part 5, 6, 7, and 8 Q&A sessions.

If you think of a better question before the deadline, you may edit your first and only post with a new one.

Due to the close timeline (promise you'll get a chance to vote next time), we will unfortunately not be able to vote on the questions, so we will be picking the ones that we think are the best and submit them to Hasbro at 10 AM on Monday, with the deadline for questions at May 2nd, 11:59 PM Eastern.

For you crybabies out there, do not be disappointed if your question is not picked. This Q&A program will occur on a regular basis, so you will most likely get a chance. If you feel that we made an error in judgment with not picking your question, you can re-post it again the next time.

Final note: Please do not hold discussions in this thread. It will allow us to better read the questions without you guys chatting this place up.

However, we know how much you guys like to chat, so a thread specifically dedicated to these questions has also been created for your fun to chat away.

That's it! Post in this thread now! Remember: May 2, 2010, 11:59 PM Eastern is the deadline!

Alternatively you may email us at tfsupport[at]tformers.com with the subject as "Burning Question," submit on Twitter with #TFBurnQ, or login via Facebook Connect to add your comment in this Burning Question post!

Given the many publishing companies that have attempted to take on Transformers (especially G1) in graphic novel form, which runs from which publishers are considered to be canonical and will we ever see a timeline telling us where said comics fit into the overall Tf history?

If Hasbro were to make G.I. Joe Transformers, would they be their own sub-line, like Star Wars Transformers, or would they be a part of a line like Transformers Generations?

will hasbro make a war for cybertron skywarp and jetfire??

In reference to character choices for gestalts, we've seen a number of Devastator (Constructicons) figures, and even a couple renditions of Bruticus (Combaticons); so might we eventually see the Stunticon characters chosen for a MENASOR gestalt figure?

There has been a lot of debate among fans as to whether Alpha Trion is one of the Original 13, especially now since at BotCon, you guys firmly established that the Thirteen were multiversal singularities. According to the original G1 cartoon episode, The Key to Vector Sigma part 2, Alpha Trion says that he is a "first generation product of Vector Sigma." (Vector Sigma being the physical embodiment of Primus). Also, according to his More Than Meets the Eye bio from Dreamwave, Alpha Trion is believed to be one of the Original 13, and in the Ultimate Guide, he is stated to be Primus' chosen guardian of Cybertron. So the question is this: Is Alpha Trion one of the Original Thirteen first created by Primus himself?

What was the reason behind making the Generations line strictly Deluxe?

What was the reason behind renaming Straxus Darkmount?

Either one would be fine

How about,

Will combiners ever return to being actual Transformers, or are we from here on out getting shafted with subpar drones?

The follow up would be,

Why after 26yrs has the inclusion or a robot, alt, and limb suddenly become to hard to make even in lue of rising (if not skyrocketing) prices?

As a long time consumer becoming very jaded by new practice, I believe I have the right to ask why I should keep spending on a movement thats going backwards.

Fans often will create their own transformation schemes and alt modes for figures, such as ROTF demolishor's "bike" mode, even creating the occasional "combined" modes between two or more of them, such as classics Optimus and Jetfire. What kinds of unofficial modes like these have been played around with by the workers of hasbro and would any of this sort of thing become official play options in future figures?

It seems like every couple of months, when a new wave is released, the new transformers all have different design philosophies from previous waves. An extreme example of this would be the difference between the movie 1 figures in general and the RotF figures in general. A more recent example would be Deluxe Ratchet and Brawn vs. deluxe Sideways and Sideswipe. What internal decisions cause these differences in feel? New designers? Different general design goals?
