Design for Masterpiece Megatron

well, my idea for meg's arms was that with the G1version, the forearms slid up in that transform, so my thought was that on MP megs, only the outer armor slides up, locking the elbow joint, while the inner core of the arm fit into the chest. (since the "elbows" on G1 megs was red, I thought of having the core of the forearm as red.) By necessity, the forearms would be smaller, so there would be enough room. This still holds true with what I said earlier abour making the arms thinner and smaller; They would have to be wider along the sides and narrower along the tops in order to transform accurately.

Concerning the trigger/legs- I have a possible  idea of how to work it, though, just bear with me while I try to explain:

On G1 megs, the thighs swung out on pylons and rested alongside the trigger. My Idea was similar, except that there would be a locking mechanism, like a post or something that went right through the finger-hole in the trigger. The hip mechanisms would be in each thigh, so that it was stable without placing undue strain on the locking post. (I REALLY wish I had a scanner so I could show you what I mean!) The post would flip up from somewhere on the hip or thigh (WORKING ON IT ON PAPER), and in gun mode would lie flat along the inside of the hip.

As for the thickness of the thighs themselves, I was considering a thigh that divided legthwise and half of it would fold back about 180 degrees towards the back of the gun. If we use my idea of the bulk of the calf being the stock w/ the gun grip being the outer housing, of it in robot mode then the grip would serve to cover the entire divided thigh until transform. This also avoids the necessity of putting in a slide-joint for the thigh, and possibly weakening the knee.

This leaves only the problem of the upper waist/ chest region. I admit this still stifles me, but I'm working on it. But I hope this explains a bit more of what i'm seeing in my mind.

I still cant see it working....

but i like the idea.

Hey WV - if you have access to a photocopier and wanna spot me a postage stamp send me your drawings and i will scan and post

cause i really am interested in this project

And really... It doesn't have to transform into a perfectly proportional gun of the same make and model as the original. People have custom guns. My cousin has a killer looking custom .32 for target shooting....

MP Prime certainly isn't correct proportionally to a big rig.

Who cares? He looks good.

Any idea that we can all talk about and work on that gets us closer to a decent Megatron is good.

True Dat -

MP1 is flat out Fugly as a Truk

i could care less how fugly the alt mode looks. as long as it's a gun and the bot mode is accurate. MP Prime looks fine to me in both modes. so far, this idea seems excellent. i look forward to seeing if it can actually be done

still offer'D

Do all of Masterpiece Prime's parts remain attached to him through his transformation, aside from the obviously loose ones?  His fists even?

Ummm...... the arms do stay in the fig, you don't have to take them off :wtf I think the only pieces that are taken off his transformation are his weapons and that's it.

Exactly.

You were wrong, and don't try to act like that was your point all along.  MP Prime can be transformed completely without his weapons.  Nothing has to be removed in order to transform him from cab to robot, and back.
