Soon after the 2nd movie came out in an interview: “Instead of the entire planet, [i'd say to megatron]: Can you just take out all of the white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people in Middle America?”

 

and more recently: The actress tells The New York Times that her movie "Jennifer's Body" tanked because "the movie is about a man-eating, cannibalistic lesbian cheerleader, and that pretty much eliminates middle America."

 

Now if you want a movie to succeed stateside, it's got to be a success in places besides New York and Los Angeles. And if you go around saying you wouldn't mind seeing the bulk of your paying audience wiped out, they're going to ask themselves why they should bother showing up and shelling out their dough... Hopefully that's a logical explainantion, without rancor.

She doesn't think that horror movie fans got their horror movie fix with Halloween II, Paranormal Activity and Saw VI? Her reasoning is fallacious - there are any number of reasons as to why Jennifer's Body crashed at the box office, including but not limited to (1) being released during a glut of horror movies, (2) a severe lack of prominent marketing, (3) that the format of the film confused and alienated critics, leading to mixed reviews. Middle American homophobia probably doesn't rate very high on that list of reasons.

 

At the same time, while her reasoning is wrong, Megan Fox is on the mark with her comments about Middle America in general. She make lack any form of subtlety, and what she said hardly constitutes some sort of in-depth analysis of the incredibly backward sentiments of a great swathe of the American nation; nonetheless, the woman has a point.

Shia LaBeouf is (IMO) a very good actor who did himself no favors by hamming it up from the beginning of the ROTF to the end of ROTF, putting himself squarely in the same general category as Meg Fox as an actor who acted badly in TF:ROTF. There is a difference, though: Shia LaBeouf actually can act. Meg Fox, from what I have seen of her here and elsewhere, simply cannot.

 

She is not a strong female lead. She's not Jodie Foster. She's not even Meg Foster. She is not a strong female role model in any way, shape or form. Spouting off whatever asinine comment comes to mind because you happen to have a platform to do so does not make you a strong role model. She does not come across as a natural portraying anyone's true reaction to an imminent invasion by hostile alien robots. She is a plot contrivance. She is there to look hot and stare, open-mouthed, into the camera.

 

The sad thing is is that everyone else played to her level, and we are left with a 2+ hour long film where you really can't even single Meg Fox's bad performance out as the main downfall of the movie. Everyone mailed it the fuck in.

megan fox was soooooooo wooden in TF1 i thought she was the worst part of the movie - i thought she was actually bearable in TF2 so props to her for improving

Sorry, I know Bay is just defending his eye candy actress, but she's an airhead.

 

She's not that good of an actress but has the looks any young and dumb kid stud would want so it worked in the movies. Now she thinks she's something hot because of the fame from the TF movies, and when any of her solo movies fail, it'll be someone else's fault because of all the lies about being "the next big thing" that the industry/media has filled her head with. Bay shouldn't be apologizing for her, but even he knows that killing her off would ruin a lot of the "chemistry" on the human side of the movies, so he's stuck with her. Maybe "killing her off" in ROTF would've been the best thing though, maybe then she would've realized she's no superstar and the failure of "Jennifer's Body" would have proven it to her. Now we have the equivalent of a Baywatch babe that thinks she's Elizabeth Taylor.

LOL...some of your guys' responses crack me up! I'm not a huge fan of the girl, and rather hated her in most of the first Transformers movie, but she seemed better in Revenge of the Fallen. No point was her character realistic, but that's more the writers'/directors' faults than her own. But with that said, I just saw Jennifer's Body last night, and to my surprise she was very good! Is she cocky? Sure she is. Is she a terrible actress? I doubt we'll ever see her win any credible awards, but I really can't say she's terrible anymore after seeing Jennifer...she really played the part well!

all i have to say is..

 

in my opinion there was only one part out of both movies where she was actually bad.. & that part is when she screams "sam i love you" while sam is visiting the other primes.

 

other than that.. i think she has been pretty decent.. and in some instances she's actually been pretty good.
