I think she's old enough by now that she should know better than to say many of the off-the-wall things she's said in interviews and appearances. She should know by now that when you insult your fans, they may walk out on your movies.

 

Props to Bay for defending her though. Not many directors would after the things she's said.

Well, admins have warned me in the past not to 'bash' Megan Fox, so I didn't elaborate. But - since you asked....

 

Soon after the 2nd movie came out in an interview: “Instead of the entire planet, [i'd say to megatron]: Can you just take out all of the white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people in Middle America?”

 

and more recently: The actress tells The New York Times that her movie "Jennifer's Body" tanked because "the movie is about a man-eating, cannibalistic lesbian cheerleader, and that pretty much eliminates middle America."

 

Now if you want a movie to succeed stateside, it's got to be a success in places besides New York and Los Angeles. And if you go around saying you wouldn't mind seeing the bulk of your paying audience wiped out, they're going to ask themselves why they should bother showing up and shelling out their dough... Hopefully that's a logical explainantion, without rancor.

Remember that Megan Fox is an actress. Diablo Cody wrote Jennifer's Body. However, I didn't feel there was any undertones when she said her movie eliminates middle America. Middle America is (generally) conservative, and lesbians pretty much set anybody off, even non-Middle America people.

Why is this even a discussion? I'm part of the group that went to the movie to see Optimus, Bumblebee, and the other Transformers. Megan, while nice to look at, is superfluous. Now if there were a rumor that Peter Cullen were going to be replaced, then I'd be concerned. But then Peter's mature, professional, and has an established enough career (even if it is mostly behind the scenes) that the doesn't need to be outrageous to garner publicity.

Once can only presume from this recent turnaround that someone high up in the studio machine signed Fox for a third film, and then politely suggested that perhaps Bay should try to publicly patch things up with the actress.

 

As an aside, I will also say that Fox - for all her failings - is spot on the money with her comments about Middle America; and that furthermore, I would agree that making said comments in public would be financial suicide were it not that Middle America has both a low attention span, and a general unawareness of the outside world.

So, Megan Fox is blaming the poor box office of Jennifer's Body on repressed middle-America? Really? She doesn't think it has to do with the possibility that no one gave a damn about her movie? She doesn't think that horror movie fans got their horror movie fix with Halloween II, Paranormal Activity and Saw VI? She doesn't that think people just plain couldn't care less about some movie with that girl from Transformers 2? She has to cite some assumed prejudice of middle-America as the reason for the failure of her movie?

Who is retarded enough to want a strong female rolemodel to be killed off? I mean Meghan comes off as being a true GENIUS of acting 100% natural responses and not that fucking retarded Shakesperian OTT acting "Oh wanna show shock, put the back of your hand to your forehead and go OOH" she actually reacts to situations AS WE FREAKING WOULD. Shit man the bad actor in the movie is freakin Sam Witwicky..
