ROTF: Devastator

Recommended Posts

Ok first and foremost I should probably say I have no real idea where to put this topic, it didn't seem to fit the Toy discussion so I figure I'd put in the Workbench topic since the Devastator I made sorta fits the description of a kit bash, eitherway here he is:

Now I did get a request on how to make this beast so here's a bit of a step by step guide to make him, I apologize in advance for the crappy job I'm sure to do. :redface

So before we start here's what you'll need to make the one in the picture:

-ROTF: Voyager Demolishor

-ROTF: Voyager Mixmaster

-ROTF: Deluxe Ravage (yes I know he's not a constructicon)

-ROTF: Combiner Class Devastator

-A screwdriver

-About 5 clear rubberbands (you should have them if you bought Devastator)

Ok first off take the mixmaster component of Supreme Devastator and using the screwdriver remove the face piece of Devastator, this might take awhile in order to get the right angle for the screwdriver to get to the screws. Next simply pull off the two mandible pieces, and the two mixing barrel panels from the Mixmaster component as well. Now set aside that noise making piece of scrap since you now have no further use for it. Gather up you Voyager Mixmaster, rubberbands and the parts you gathered from the noise making Mixmaster and let's start on my favorite part of this kitbash, the head.

~The Head~

p1010209c.jpg

Now first take Voyager Mixmaster and remove both the decepticon symbol shields from his arms, you'll be using them later on. Next take Mixmaster and...well this is where my instructions falter a bit, basically try to make him look like the picture below:

p1010211u.jpg

Once you've done that....or tried so many times that you slam your head against the wall, take the face plate from Supreme Devastator and place it on Mixmaster as shown in the picture below and use a clear rubberband to hold the face plate in place.

p1010215do.jpg

The next part is pretty self-explanatory, take the two manible pieces from Supreme Devastator and use clear rubber bands to have them tied onto the two Mixmaster smokestacks, this then finishes the actual "face" of Devastator.

p1010220c.jpg

Remember the two shields you took off of Mixmaster awhile ago? Now it's time to use them. Take the shields and position them underneath the two you left on and then use a clear rubberband to hold them in place. After that you should be finished with Devastator's head. So naturally let's start putting it all together.

First take the now headless body of Supreme Devastator and position him so he'd on all fours, also be sure to extend the lower body piece backwards so his body isn't all scrunched up. Next take two clear rubberbands and wrap them around the Scavenger treds as show below.

p1010226.jpg

Now what I like is that if you set up everything right all you'll need to do to attach the head piece is place the grill from Voyager Mixmaster ontop of the bottom rubberband and it should hold it place quite well and allow you to postion the head in different positions without it coming loose or falling off. Look to the picture below as a reference.

NOTE: Due to the amount of pictures I'll be posting part two after someone makes a post in this topic.

very sweet

Great so far, let's see some more then :D

Now that the head has been added to the body it's time to work on Devastator's Back/Turret. Now just a note, I do know Devastator didn't have any visible guns in the movie but hey it's Devastator, and he should be packing some heat shouldn't he? :tfgrin

To begin take Voyager Demolishor, Deluxe Ravage, the two panels in the below picture and some clear rubberbands.

p1010231v.jpg

First off get Ravage and Demolishor into the positions shown below:

p1010233a.jpgp1010234nv.jpg

Now take two clear rubberbands and wrap one around Demolishor's treds, next take Ravage and postion him between the two treds which will allow the rubberband to hold the two figures together, also take another rubberband and use it to hold Ravage's back legs down while combined with Demolishor, use the picture below for reference, also you could call this a combined tank mode for the two figures as well :rofl

p1010235bj.jpg

Last thing to do is simply place the two panels underneath the clear rubberbands so they rest ontop of Demolishor's treads.

Now the rest is simple, simply wedge the above combined mode into the remaining space above Devastator's head, the guns from Ravage should be at the tip of Devastator's back while Demolishor's parts form the back of Devastator. So now if you could actually make sense of my crappy instructions you should now have a new slightly better Devastator!

Since I know my instructions will probably confuse and infuriate some, feel free to PM me any questions you might have if your stuck on something and I'll try my best to help. Oh and just for fun here's some pictures for scale:

p1010244dk.jpgp1010245d.jpg

Awesome!! This makes me want to buy him right now, even at the $100 price.... but taking things apart to add on to others isn't really my thing. Giving it a neck does make it 100 times better though.

I'm hoping for some Chinese Toy maker to make an up scaled ver. of legend Devy... that would be pretty cool to see.

I just don't want to spend 100 on something that Hasbro SUPPOSED to have done already...

Thanks for the comments everyone, glad to see this put-together Devastator is getting better recieved then the other one I made awhile ago which, in all honesty, wasn't all that great.

Also if you do try to make this version of Devastator or try your own version, post some pictures, I'd love to see other attempts at a better/ball-less Devastator.

  • 2 weeks later...

I keep hoping that someone will make one by replacing all the bots, with transformable figures... Who all are we missing anyway?
