is it just me ,thinking transformers would be better without bay

Oh maaaaan, you have just joined what is now almost 4 years of angry fandom with pure angst and hatred for Bay.

[foams at mouth]

you can't think your the first guy who thought of this!?!

However, what would your reasons and sugestions be for this topic.

It's Groundhog Day!

Personally, the movie designs we have now are by far my favorite version of the Transformers themselves. I never would have thought up anything like them. If we got someone else there's a chance they'd look even better or a chance they'd be worse. If I would have done the movie my lack of creativity would have had them looking just like G1 and not as good as they turned out.

i agree, i love the look of the movie transformers. when i saw the first part, it seemed impossible for the alts to transform into that big a robot, but the toys are amazing. i guess bay is an 'action' director, so he put all the 'big robots' straight into the action sequences, which makes me wonder what would it be like if some other director had directed it?

for example:

john woo - transformers firing at each other in slow motion while doves fly in the foreground :) (hmmm just about already done)

ang lee - emotional transformers who have faced tragedy for years

eli roth - transformers who spew 'lubicants' when they are slashed (battle damage anyone?)

keenen ivory wayans - ... never mind

Lets get some real writers in there first... then we'll talk about the director. I'm not a supporter of Mr Bay, mind you, but the writing of the first 2 movies was less than desirable.

I agree with John 14:6 -- it depends on who we would've had instead of Bay. Sure, could've been someone better but also could've been someone worse. :/ And Bay does do some seriously AWESOME things with Transformers in his movies; his use of real explosions and special effects over CGI, his connections with the military (I doubt too many other directors would've been allowed to use all those jets like F22s) etc. I'm not saying that Bay is the perfect director and I'm certainly aware of the flaws in the films... but I don't think he's the worst either. :)

Best post in the entire topic. And there are WORSE directors than Mick Bay (Uwe Boll and Joel Schumacher come most immediately to mind), as well as good directors who might not be right for a certain project (Case in point: Peter Jackson doing King Kong.). Bay, at the very least, can direct action like its no one's business. And the robot designs are second to none in terms of creativity and sheer awesomeness (Bay might not have done them, but they were done under his stewardship).
