Favorite underrated figure

Recommended Posts

Primus, I think he is a great figure to transform, play with and just show off....

:wtf

Hey, that's not underrated!

:P

How often do you really ever hear anyone talking about him?

animated shockwave, he's so friggin cool and fun. Oh, and knowing you're not a big animated fan Liege, i'm curious as to what your thoughts are on ol' Shocky(?)

I like the concept behind Animated Shockwave. The 4 mode idea realy impressed me and I got both versions.

At a glance he looks cool, but his gun is to heavy for him which brings me to my main problem. The thin upper legs and elbows just make him to wonky. He's always crooked. Even the shoulders are going and it's not even a year

I bought him with alot of hope, but he just isn't even close to beating out Energon Shockblast as my modern Shockwave.

In all, I was realy let down and am thinking of selling my 2. Beyond the designs, the choice of materials realy hurt the Animated line for me.

that's a shame liege, mine is still holding up with some nice, stiff joints, he's my personal fave of animated, either you got unlucky twice and got faulty ones, or i got really lucky on my first try

Either way, I like the effort, just not the execution.

My Animated keepers are Blurr, Jazz, Leader Megatron, Ultra Magnus, both Prowls, BlackArachnia, and Lockdown.

I've had problems with all of them, hell it took 4 Lockdowns before I found one with a leg that wouldn't fall off, but those are my highlight figures with honorable mention to Voyager and the 2 Deluxe Primes, Bumblebee, Oil Slick, and maybe the Dinobots and Swindel.

The look realy did nothing for me, and so many figures broke right out of the package. Take Blitzwing, I was realy looking forward to him. When those clips sheered off after the second transformation, I knew the line was a fail.

Alot of lines have had some crap figures, but this was near every figure I opened way beyond a ball joint issue. I've never seen issues like this before, and if I do so again, I'm done on new retail figures.

I own two Animated Shockwaves and both are holding up perfectly. Liege, how is it that you managed to get every figure not looked over by QC.

I missed this before my above post. Again, HOW DO YOU KEEP GETTING THESE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL TFS?!?!?

My Blitzwing has no problem. His jet and tank modes are lackluster but thats not a structural defect. And my Lockdown never had a problem with his leg. How is it that all your figures managed to break right out of the packaging? Are you opening them with a chainsaw? :P

The only figure that actually came out of the packaging broken was Ratchet. His lower leg wouldnt stay on till I fixed it. Other then that I haven't had any problems with degradation or outright breakage.

Degredation is the worst. And I use kid gloves with these things. I had to return Swoop twice because the notches on his back for the wings was actualy scraping the plastic off the wings. The shoulders on both my deluxe Primes are powedery because of plastic friction.

I had that same problem with Ratchet, and Grimlock is loose enough to be a nunchuck (plus they should have made that robot jaw movable)

Oil Slick's shoulder connectors are made out of friggin rubber!?!

Now I'm sorry, I have active figures running strong for 15-20 years surviving violent play, shelf drops, being stepped on, ando and on and on that are fine. I can pick them up and they're still just as good as the day I got them, Animated though, falling apart out of the package, they wont last. Turned to dust by meerly existint while the other figures are still going strong.

I remember when I fisrt started seeing balljoints on figures and it was noted that some parts are ment to detach with excesive force. I was happy about that recalling unrepairable G1 figures. I can't help but wonder when excesive force turned to being looked at?

I know, you can't say anything bad about Animated, but you know what, show acuracy is nothing new. How hard can it be any way it was undetailed line art? I'm not gonna say anyones wrong for liking it, to each there own, but for me, it was a waste of good writers in a pile of lazy art and plastic suck.

Now I'm not saying every Universe or Movie figure is a win, but I haven't had those QC issues in those or any other line...

I know the Animated syndrome isn't just on my shelves...

The materials used just weren't ment to last.

You don't watch Relutter in the ShoutBox do you :P

Nah, anyone can mention any figure in this thread, I'm just enjoying the obscurities :)

I like the Beast Wars Mutant Razor Claw.

His transformation is sexy and both modes look good, except the Wolverine mode is fucking GREEN.

I wish I would of picked up some of the mutants back in the day. I'll prolly get hung for sayin this but are we counting animorphs? Cuz i just dug out the tiger one. I picked up back in the day as a stand in for tigatron. Not a bad tiger mode. Human mode or whatever is a little kibbly, but i keep thinkin if i could find the right head and repaint a few things, he'd be a good beast era bot.

Hey to each their own...

Hell I like Go-Bot Aerobot, I got him for my niece and he's still fun :)

And yeah, in hindsight, I wish I didn't skip the Mutants either
