is Leader Megs worth it?

Recommended Posts

is Leader Megs worth $47? (I was including taxes on that)

I don't either Voyager or Leader Megs, but I think personally that the voyager version looks better, and is less expensive. It's all a matter of what you like better though

I personally think that he's worth it. I bought the Leader over the Voyager due to size and the fact that I love tanks. But It really depends on what you personally think of the figure. I almost bought the Voyager Prime and megs because the size of those figures are more in scale with the rest as opposed to the Leader class figures.

Leader Megatron is no where near as cool as Prime. Way less complicated with fewer moving parts. The tank mose is massive, but far from accurate. The right arm is in dire need of articulation.

All that aside, he is a very enjoyable figure. The parts when transforming him are a nice handful, and outside of the right arm. I'm happy to have him.

The Voyager is a better figure over all, however he's very short, and the Leader has alot of size on his side.

If your unsure though, I's say wait, you'd probably feel better getting him on sale.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I just might hold out on the Leader Megs since I already have a the crab version. I'm leaning towards Leader OP instead :D

when you compair the 2 it realy pisses me off the detail one figure gets over the other.

I love the movie lines, but they do not cater to fans of the bad guys!!!

wait for Target to have it on sale and run another 20% off.

Retails sales are way off and your going to hear a lot about it as Xmas gets closer also.

You can get him cheaper later on. I got mine for about 32% off -- i'm sure those kinda sales will be around again.

No, he's not worth that kind of money unless you plan on painting him and modifying that right arm (there's really no way around it). On his own, there is no comparing him to '09 Prime, Crabiton or ANYONE ELSE in the ROTF line thus far. Unpainted and unmodded, he is ridiculously subpar and owned by pretty much every scout, deluxe, voyager and certainly every leader figure in the line.

Part of the problem is that I don't think there is any possibility of producing a truly movie-accurate version of Megs that transforms into all 3 of his modes. With Prime, it apparently was possible. But Megatron's toy designs have to account for far too much morphing as concerns what we saw in both movies to produce a functional and fun translation. For instance: Voyager Megs comes closest, but there is no accounting for the backpack that is not present on his CGI model. There are parts on both Leader and Voyager figures that are movie accurate that ARE NOT on the other.

Even with all that, if Hasbro would simply have scaled up the voyager, I feel that Megs would be getting nearly the same amount of love that '09 Prime gets.

Now, if you have a little bit of time on your hands and you can get him on sale and you want to turn ROTF leader Megs into a project, I'd say go for it, and by the time you're done, he may well be worth every penny you spent on him...because that's the experience I'm having with him right now. A little (lot) of paint can make all the difference in the world. I regard the ROTF Leader Megatron being sold in stores right now to be incomplete, and it's up to the consumer to complete it. It sucks, it absolutely should not be that way, but it does give me a hobby and a creative outlet. I personally like my re-painted leader Megs better than the voyager: I invested a lot of time into the repaint, and I like the dimensions and proportions of the leader figure better.

99% of mods and repaints are beautiful primarily to the beholder... and their resale value basically destroyed...

If you want the project - and your doing it for you - have fun and have at it. Just realize if you want to unload it later... it might not be so easy.
