Well once again Transformers Movie is a one weekend wonder... Was it Marketing? Hype? Rabid Fans?

If it has dipped down a bit, it might be because everyone here has probably seen is several times already and it's been discussed back and forth ten times over.

Well, it's the only thing realy out in it's catagory right now.

Wolverine, Star Trek, and Terminator where fighting each other. Transformers basicly has the field to itslef right now.

I'm not a Harry Potter fan, but that should knock it out of the running.

Sadly TF2 does not have the staying power in script that a normal movie that grosses as much does.

Rabid fans seeing the film through rose colored glasses. Just like all the little girlies went to see Leo in Titanic and drove up the box office numbers of that mediocre film, Transformers fan's wanting to see SFX and 'slposions are driving up the box office of another mediocre film.

Doesnt matter This movie has already made a fortune and by the the time dvd comes out theyll make a billion. Wont be surprised if theres a part 4 or 5 Its a money factory.

Every movie drops in attendance after the first week. That's common. It's numbers are still pretty high though.

This is an interesting list on imdb:

ROTF is still doing good, but hasn't made it as far up the list as a few previous Bay movies (including the first Transformers):

30. Transformers (2007) $700,759,914

52. Armageddon (1998/I) $554,600,000

64. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) $497,459,000

We'll see where it goes from here...

well honestly, in some places ROTF was the only thing you could watch. They took down some movies that were doing well in favor of the big ROTF push. So for me, that explains the big draw; there was nothing else to watch, plus giddy fanboys watching it multiple times over the weekend. Y'know, just like Twilight.

Is it wicked of me to hope it fails just enough from here on out that they may actually try to make a GOOD movie next time? Not just an "entertainingly marketable" one?

Sorry, sorry I just love to :deadhorse ! Back on topic:

I saw an interview on CBS this morning where they were talking about the three big movies at the box office: Public Enemies, ("A great movie! Johnny Depp's still got it!") Ice Age: ("It's a great film, Great for the family!") and Transformers: ("It's a box office Juggernaut! It has big robots and explosions!")

Waaait... you didn't say if you actually liked it or not! *Uses the "angry squint*

Correction from my previous post...imdb.com updated this afternoon. Looks like it has moved up in the rankings & surpassed Armageddon:

30. Transformers (2007) $700,759,914

45. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) $591,355,885

53. Armageddon (1998/I) $554,600,000
