Bay Thanks Transformers Fans

Recommended Posts

With nothing to do than just sit back and wait, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Director Michael Bay stopped by his official website message boards and posted a message thanking the fans. In the process, he criticized the critics that panned the film, "[they] never seem to understand that I make movies for people to take a ride and escape." He tells us that the film made a total of $100 Million around the world on opening day and "To all the Transformer Fans - Thank You."

well i thank you Mr.Bay for bringing the TF to live action movies and for bringing us two great movies so far

I second that! I'm glad he made the film the way he wanted, rather than some some art piece at a vineyard that gets great reviews, but isn't fun to watch.

because if it got great reviews.. it would have to be a crappy movie. :roll

He has to thank his TF fans - who else does he have to thank?? NO one is giving it great reviews.

The reality is -- the early success of the movie is more a reflection of how well the 1st movie did - than it is of how well this one was or was not.

I'm eternal greatful that the TFers have been given new life and given to a whole new generation. I am even very accepting of the fact Bay did his own interpretation of the new series, even if I am not a huge fan of the alien-esque appearance that they all have. I have accepted that as his own personal interpretation and art-form. But there is not much excuse for poor character developement and many basic scenima failures.

I for one am glad that director Michael Bay made the movie that he wanted to make, and did not do another fancy Hollywood vineyard production with too much emphasis on 'plot' and 'narrative' and 'visual coherence'. He understands the everyday Joe - by which, of course, I mean me. (Hey, even my name is 'Joe'... that Michael Bay sure is a clever fella!) After a hard day sitting on the couch reminiscing about how great it was to work at GM before the layoffs, that last thing I want to do is go see some chick flick where the camera pans slowly or worse, stays completely still!! Thank God for Michael Bay, a filmmaker that knows what men want - a movie with beautiful women, more explosions than you can count... a movie with real balls!

It wasn't a ride for us to escape", merely a "camera recording of someone ON the ride, trying to escape", which we then watched, in all it's jiggery-camerness.

A perfect example:

Really easy to understand it, eh?

I appreciate that he took the time to thank us, it's a nice gesture.

But I would agree that so far the success is only a measure of the last movie's success and of the flashy add campaign. It'll be another week before we really know for sure if the people are really any more impressed with this go around than the critics were.

Neither movie played well with critics (although this one faired far worse- and understandably). I've never entirely understood why people love the last one so much.

I bought the last one on dvd (and will probably buy this one as well). Basically I watch the robot fights and skip everything else. That's what I really want to see, and they're there. So I can't complain to much. I think that both movies (especially the new one) have some serious issues beyond the robot fighting.

Having said that, I'm already tempted to go see it again!

Bay if your watching THANK YOU VERY MUCH, YOU RULE, Transformers 1 and 2 are awsome!!

I don't know what to tink about anything anymore. Too many people clouding judgement. It's like Zemo all over again! :wtf

I don't know wether to love the movie for everything exept the twins, or hate it because of the twins...

although the review outsides are negative, I still think Bay done a great job with Dreamworks.

Dreamworks have made a best computer animation in the world. Thanks bay, let the transformers rebirth. :tflaugh
