ROTF Constructicons

Recommended Posts

The multiple constructicon thing was F'd. Those guys are huge, no way cloning is gonna account for that. If that was the case, might as well have a clone army of Devastators forming and wrecking shop.

In my opinion, there's two ways to solve this dilemma, but both require retconing of some kind.

One way, Devastator is one robot on his own, and doesn't separate or combine at all. But upon coming to earth, he (or some other 'Con) realized that there was no "common" earth ground vehicle that could be a good alt mode for him, so he (somehow) separated into several components as to be able to take on smaller, more "in disguise" alt-modes.

The second explanation, to be more Geewunny, is that Devastator is made from [insert number here] constructicons, but there are only that number of them, either making the scenes in the desert with Long Haul, Mixmaster, and (I don't know how) Rampage happen before Devi is formed, or just be different robots entirely.

Take your pick.

Or just re-edit! As for your two solutions, I could sorta go for the first one...but then you still have duplicate alt forms driving around; however those can actually transform into their own robots, so...maybe. As for the second...I'd rather have different robots entirely for each scene...that'd be a lot of Constructicons, but at least it would make sense. :shrug But like someone else said, it wasn't even really necessary to have additional Constructicons at the ruins fighting the humans & Autobots...there were enough Decepticlones there to get the job done. That just felt like sloppy, dare I say G1 animation, mistakes.

No, that'd be more like if they had Jazz in the final desert battle. :tflaugh

But, Hasbro might've just asked Bay add a few of the other toy molds rather than just have it be only the Clones, as those will most likely go without toys anyway.

Hey, they made the toaster into a toy, so you never know. That'd actually be kinda cool to have some Protoform/Clone action figures! Who know what they'd transform into, but...that'd be the surprise! :yay

True. I hope hey come out with as many figures this year as they did last year, but this time, with ones from the Movie and the game. That'd make me one happy collector... sorta.

This idea was probably mentioned earlier in the thread, but the Constructicons should TOTALLY have been played like some kind of Decepticon Special Forces/ Demolition unit (w/o clones), wherein the forming of Devastator was something of a secret weapon.

I think that they should play any future combiner team appearances like that. Anyone agree? Disagree?

^Prior to seeing the movie & just the trailers, it appeared (or at least I thought) that Dev would be the secret weapon. Instead, he sucked up some sand & a Twin, then ripped the top off of a pyramid...kinda felt like a waste. :shrug

Question...does anyone remember which Constructicons were on the cargo ship, prior to reviving Megs? And who was the 'small one'? I remember seeing Long Haul, Mixmaster, and I believe Scrapper, but I can't remember the rest...

I think the one on the cargo ship was either a random DeceptiClone, or Long Haul. And the little guy wasn't a constructicon, his name is Scalpel.

No, no...when Scalpel (a.k.a. 'the Doc') told the others that he needed parts, and something to the effect of "take them from the small one."

I wonder if anyone has compared the size difference between Rampage and Long Haul's toys yet...
