I like the first one... While it was a very different interpretation, it had good character developement, story and allowed you to suspend reality and get lost in it. It was entertaining to someone who is not a TF-fan just as much as it was to someone else.

I"m not going to say the first film couldn't be improved upon, because that clearly wasn't the case either. One area I feel they realy met this in was more robot action, and better fight scenes. I loved when they actually pulled back and let you see full body moves instead of just hunks of metal rotating all over the place. I don't think there was quite as much suspence and "something is coming" feel - it was just more shoot em up. Unfortunately, they seemed to sacrifice better comedy writing and character development.

Megan fox is hot - iget that. But in the 1st film it felt like she was trying to act, and was just hot. In this one, if felt more like she was being hot and just saying a few lines. I mean, is it me, or were her lips getting BIGGER the more the movie went on?? The bike scene at the start was AWESOME - very hot. But half way thru you can't help but notice every scene with her, the camera is focusing in on her lips. sheeezzz.

There are things to enjoy about both. Now having seen the new one a 2nd time -- I am cutting it a little more slack, as I feel my expectations were simply too high.

To answer the question - I like the 1st movie even BETTER now. I think this one was a typical sequel. It was NOT as good as the first, even tho it had some good points, like better action sequences. But I think what it lacked, is what really makes a movie great. And if a movie is great -- it shouldn't have to appeal to just the TF fans -- it will transcend that and draw people in. I think the critics got it right.

My hope is that the 3rd one learns from this and they can take the positives and negatives of them both and make the best one yet. If they do not, I think it might be their last.

I finally watched it.

As much as I hated TF07, that movie was actually tons more enjoyable compared to this latest outing. Yes, less shaky camera, more Con interaction, but it just doesn't enough to redeem this movie's terrible photography, cheap sexual innuendo that makes the T&A fest Bad Boys seem decent by comparison (seriously, dogs humping?), and jarring cuts that make it even more confusing than 07's NYPD Blue shaky-camera shots. It felt like a chore to watch.

And the Optimus death probably had the least impact out of all the times he's died in 25 years. That includes the silly death drop and immediate resurrection from TFA's Transform and Roll Out.

I finally saw it today and I have to say although I liked it, I was a little unimpressed. Don't get me wrong, I did like it, but I didn't have the wow factor that I did after seeing the first film. People who complained about it not having a story and I disagree. Although it wasn't a great story, it was simple enough to follow. I really can't wait to see the fan edit of this film. I can see a lot of scenes moved around, altered and completely removed altogether. I won't get into the my opinions of certain characters who I thought were offensive or the giant sized plot holes. I felt the movie was rushed and just not as tight as it could have been. I liked part 1 a hell of a lot more than I liked ROTF. I will still buy the DVD, but I felt it could have been SO much better if they had more time. Oh well, can't wait for the mkv fan edit to make the rounds online.

Do you mind explaining the mkv fan edit? Never heard of that.

mkv is a movie file format similar to avi. fan edits are very popular, I have a few actually. The Star Wars (New Hope) fan edit shits all over Lucas' "special edition".

take a look:
