Your thoughts on Transformers Two Years later........

Recommended Posts

I have yet to see ROTF (gonna see it today after work or tomorrow morning, I can't wait) but since many if not most of us here on the board have seen it already, has the sequel made you think differently about the first movie? Do you view the original film differently now that you have seen the sequel? I loved the first film. Although I grew up in the 1980's during G1's original TV run, I felt like a kid watching the first film in the theater, even if there were changes with the characters, stories etc.... I am hoping ROTF will give me a similar experience, but I have to be honest, I am afraid that I will not have the same feeling as I did with the first movie.

As an example, there has always been a segment of the population who always preferred Star Wars (A New Hope for anyone under 30) over Empire Strikes Back (the latter is my favorite Star Wars film of all time) because lets face it, it came out first. Does this hold true with your opinions of Transformers vs ROTF?

Did ROTF change your opinion of the first film in any way?

I saw it last night at midnight, and it was awesome. It blew the first one away and there was a lot more nods to the old series, especially with the relationship with MEgatron and Starscream. I loved the first one, but this one as I said just tops it in every way

This. Agree the bot action was intense way better than the first. Devs on the big screen was awesome.

outside of the action though, was it a bit too much? Sometimes less is more, sometimes less is not enough. I have read mixed reviews online. My younger brother saw it last night and was a bit lukewarm. We have similar opinions on films, we both loved the first one, he in fact preferred the first movie to the sequel. Was the action the only reason you liked it?

Damn this sucks, I can't wait to see it.

It was a bit too much in some areas sexual content was what got me. Not to mention there were quite a few things unexplained, that they could have used to replace those filler moments.:roll That's how I felt about it at least. It is lukewarm in the sense there could have been so much potential in the movie. So yes to answer your question my opinion and only reason for seeing it was the robot action, which was really mind blowing. I'll see the movie again but not at the theaters. :shrug

^^^Cool. I was thinking about going to IMAX to see it instead, but instead see it in a conventional theater instead. Movies in IMAX are cool, but if there is as much "Bayhem and Bayos" then I think seeing it on a regular screen will be easier on the eyes.

I am thisclose to canceling date night with my lady tonight (seeing Shakespeare in the Park "The Tempest"), but we live together and she's a good cook and great in the sack :shrug Don't want to ruin that.

Mixed? All the non-fan reviews are negative so far. Could you point me to some positive reviews?

Now the first one is even crappier!

Just my opinion, but the second was just in a whole different ballpark than the first, fully blew me away.

Gonna have to see it a few more times before it leaves the theater :awsum

Well, mixed as in only Transformers fans seem to like it, and movie critics hated it. The film has been lambasted on aintitcool.com.
