This may be a dumb question but i can't for the life of me understand the transformer/beast wars

connection. Is it a paralell universe? seperate universe or what? Is there no connection at all in the storyline and just two separate shows or is there mythology to it

Beast Wars/Machines are actually meant to be a direct sequel to the original G1 universe.

 

Set roughly three hundred years later, Beast Wars principal characters are time traveling decendents of the G1 Transformers. During the run of the show there are guest apearences by Starscream's ghost and Ravage.

 

From the Climax of season 2 through season 3, the Maximals Defend the dormant Ark from the Predacons even from a restored Nemesis.

Yeah, if you follow G1 as it continued in Japan you can pretty much see the evolution from Autobots and Decepticons to Maximal and Predicons...

 

Realy one of if not the best TF series to date once you learn whats going on

Beast Wars is my favorite Transformers series, followed by Animated and then G1.

 

Here's basically how Beast Wars fits into the transformers story:

 

After the Autobots claimed victory against the Decepticons in the Great War, a sort of tense peace settled in on Cybertron, over time the Autobots "evolved" into the Maximals and the Decepticons "evolved" into the Predacons. The tense peace still remained, the Maximal's were under command of the High Council while the Predacons were under command of the Tripedicus Council.

 

Also if you haven't already, WATCH THE SERIES, it has some of the best humor, story telling, and character's I've seen in any series to date, not to mention you can find all the episodes on Youtube :bwmax :bwpred

Indeed, Beast Wars started the less characters means more character development status quo.

beastwars rules it is an epic win every episode this was the animated series i grew up with man well and the original VHS tapes of g1 i still can't believe people out there thought it sucked
