Terminator: Salvation Alternate Revenge Trailer

Recommended Posts

We got in a number of submissions these past couple of days telling us that a new alternate Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen trailer was attached to the front of the Terminator: Salvation film (which we heard was enjoyable, but nothing new), but have been unable to get video proof for it. Until now. The new video is more or less the full theatrical trailer interlaced with some footage from the recent television spots, but gives some new views, too.

These are:
# The first lines by Mudflap. Sam has a symbol on his arm and he asks the Twins what it reads. Skids is apprehensive and Mudflap says that they don't do much reading. This lends even more credence to the speculation by many people that Tom Kenny may be voicing these two guys.
# An additional scene of the motorcycles Arcee, Chromia, and whatever her name is. This view is behind the chase while most of the footage we have seen is front the front.

Ehhhhh I'm not feeling the whole Make droids have emotions bit. They are droids, they don't cry! and what's this about droids not reading??!?!?! Droids read, AI read!!!!!! That's how AI works, it has to be able to read!!!! So mud flap and the other one are gehtto...I get it and it's stupid. I'm seeing that what will get me about this movie is the unnecessary attempt to make the droids be more human like...like an old droid with a cane...Droids don't get canes!!!!! they fix them selves up, get or make a new leg! Orci, Kurtzman what the frak is wrong with you writers? Your story is not strong enough to that you have to employ "Shrek" quality gimmicks???

Star Trek was a disappointment and like the last Transformers I'm only expecting good effects and nothing else.

I can't wait for Transformers 3 since Orci and Kurtzman are not writing for that one!

Are you serious? I thought the entire point of Transformers was a never-ending civil war between a race of robotic beings. Just because they are robotic doesn't mean they are incapapable of emotion. To me, their ability to feel emotion is what has made their race last as long as they have. Case in point: Optimus believes that "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings". To believe a statement that powerful requires an emotional connection to the importance of that statement.

What forum are you in Skullfire? Necrothug is correct. TF's have the human equivalent of souls, which makes them individual. They have emotions and they feel pain. They are essentially just humans as machines in that sense.

You do know your not in a Star Wars forum right? Droidness doesn't apply to Transformers.

^ It sort of does, sort of doesn't.

It doesn't make sense for there to be a robot with the scanning and reforming capabilities of the Transformers that can't doesn't have some way to fix himself.

But then, dumb robots are perfectly acceptable to me.

OK maybe, but Transformers have always had personality. Some smart, arrogant, brave, fearful, break dancing...

To say after 25yrs that it's stupid, is realy stupid itself.

Plus, Transformers needing to be fixed is absoultly nothing new. So what they can scan a new outter shell, maybe that just doesn't aply the same to the inner workings?

Who knows whats right or wrong though. It's fiction, it's all made up.

Yeah, since when are Transformers mindless droids? They've had thought and emotion, and human characteristcs since day one. What makes a droid good or evil is how they're programmed by their designer. Transformers make this choice of they're own accord, hence why some switch sides. There is nothing pre-written into their behavoir. So if they've got the ability to think and act on their own, why not have the ability to have emotion. As for the cane, well you can put a new body on any car, but if the engine is still busted, she still ain't running.

1/ Transformers CAN be reprogrammed. Examples:

- Beast Wars Maximal protoforms reprogrammed with a Predacon shell program.

- Insecticon with mind control probes

- Ravage controlled Insecticons in a U comic story

- Mindwipe hypnotizing and controlling TFs

- The Decepticon "Auto smasher" thingy that reprogrammed the constructicons into decepticons.

- etc

2/ There is nothing pre-written into their behavior:

Actually, there ARE characteristics pre-programmed into their behavior. Decepticons, in G1 were (descended) from military-grade robots and the Autobots from civilian-grade robots, both made by the Quintessons. The military-grade robot thinking wanted to continually expand Cybertron territory whereas the civilian-grade robots favoured conservation.

3/They've had thought and emotion, and human characteristcs since day one.

Technically no. The first Cybertronian robotic constructs where not imbued with AI. It wasn't until Primus, via the first 12/Last Autobot and Vector Sigma, imbued "life" and thus AI into them. One example of these "first generation" Transformers was Alpha Trion.

4/when are Transformers mindless droids?

There are many examples of "sparkless" and/or drone Transformers. In some cases it is debatable whether they are alive or not. Examples include:

- Repair drone in Beast Machines.

- Vehicon drones in Beast Machines

- Roller, OP's drone unit in G1

- Insecticon clones in G1

- cloned action master/target master partners

- Sentinel Guardian robots in G1

- etc

5/As for the cane, well you can put a new body on any car, but if the engine is still busted, she still ain't running.

Although its true that Tfs, with damaged parts have been seen using other comrades as crutches (Kup using Hotrod in TFTM on Quintessa and Soundwave and his minions carrying Megatron in the same film), it would seem odd that a Tf would use a walking stick as a permanent solution for mobility problems.

Its like taking your aformentioned car back to the dealer, only for it to be "officially" repaired, with an officially monogrammed built in, swanky, cellotape dispenser )for whenever you have another problem)

Sorry to bust everything you said right out of the water there, Chief.

Huh... saw Salvation last night. Saw the "new" trailer, but the version attached to the film I saw was completely indistinguishable from the one I've already seen with Wolverine, Star Trek, and a hundred times online. Oh well.

I saw Terminator Salvation yesterday by the way great movie, but the TF previews were the same one they show on TV.
