Where Are The Toys?

If collector's were Hasbro's targeted demographic, quality control and availability would be through the roof. There would be such a support for new figures that every Animated character would have an action figure by now if collector's were the core of Hasbro's success scheme.

Children are the targeted demographic. That's why Animated is TV-Y7 and not TV-MA for the older collectors.

I also think that since Animated wasnt well received when it first was introduced doomed the series... When the hardcore fans finally realized how great this series was and jumped on the bandwagon it was a little to late..

Couldn't agree more :)

I honestly see Transformers Animated as one of the best series yet, right up there with Beast Wars. Not only is it full of humor and storys to keep younger audiences interested but it's also crammed packed with transformers references that keep the long time fans searching every episode for all the references they can. It's a show both the young, new fans and the older veteran fans can enjoy.

All I can say as far as the toyline thing goes is that as much as I'm looking forward to the ROTF series I'm a little ticked that their cancelling these toys and not giving potential toys a chance. The transformers series' main source of profit is the selling of toys and TFA has so much potential for great success, I mean even a $60 Supreme class Omega Supreme would sell like hot-cakes off the shelves! Plus I REEEEEEEALLY liked the animated version of Blackout and wanted his Voyager figure :tfevil

I be pissed if they become con exclusives... It would have been great if there was time for one more season... This would have allowed them to focus more on the characters already introduced which also give them time to release new figures... Damn you ROTF...

I guess peeps liked it enough that Hasbro brought it out again as a TRU exclusive with 25 anniversary on it.

EDIT: I love your sig, Pearls Before Swine is a newspaper comic for a new age!

All thid gloom and doom does not bode well. After watching Transwarped, I was stoked to hear that we might be getting a Rodimus, but it seems that we're suffering from a company not listening to its core consumers. To cancel as show and a toy line as great as Animated shows that.

Collectors are NOT the core consumer

I think the core customers are the collectors. A kid isn't going to buy a Thundercracker or Skywarp repaint, they'll want a Starscream (or a transforming jet of some kind) and be done with it. The collector will buy them all! (especially seeker fans, they're just crazy).

But, yeah, big and shiny does sell and I think movie toys are better at doing that in terms of the initial look.

Wrong agian

There ya go! Only reason we get repaints is 1) so parents can be suckered into buying the same fig twice or 2) To shut collectors up into thinking Hasbro actually listens to them. However, as far as collectors toys = high quality, may I present to you:

Yup and the sam things happening as last time, or at least it is around here. Darn things are clogging the shelves so badly around here voyagers haven't got a place to go really.

The real problem though is parents. Yeah sure there may be high demand for Supreme, but it's the price that'd kill him. How many parents do you know that would drop $60 like that on a toy. Maybe for a birthday or Christmas, but not just on any ordinary whim. Shoot I've seen parents get pissed about their kid wanting a $20 dollar toy. I personally would love to get an Omega, shoot I'd by two. The sad reality is he wouldn't be cheap and that kills the market for him right there.

Thanks I love Pearls, the strip just cracks me up so much.

Well it seems that I was thoroughly wrong about my core customers comments. Looking back, it was foolish of me to say such things. I think I've spent too long actually being part of a company's target group (miniatures).

I saw in the current issue of toyfare, pictures of animated Arcee and Electrostatic Soundwave (aka, Soundblaster) and Ratbat. I hadn't seen them before so I'm not sure if they're for a forthcoming wave, or just something that will end up being cancelled.
