Star Wars Crossovers V-wing question...

Recommended Posts

Wow. Despite the quality, I've been finding myself buying all the Star Wars Crossovers. It's probably because of their size more than anything, and I absolutely ADORE the V-wing.

So here's an issue I'm having. The legs... seem reversed. Like.. They work in alt mode, but in robot mode the toes slant inwards, and I can't think of a logical way to get them correct. Again, it is right in alt mode... And the transformation instructions imply I have it right. But the official artwork of the "completed" mode as well as the box art (and common sense) says I'm wrong.

Here's its articulation points: Waist, hip (ratchet), knee, just below knee (rotational), ankle up/down and ankle rotation. The outer shell of the alt mode is pegged into the upper thigh, which has a definite front and back. On the left leg is attached the landing gear, which faces inwards currently.

On the box art, the feet and the lower legs are reversed in orientation, an assembly that only works if both lower legs are reversed. HOWEVER, I don't know if I can reverse them and still keep the transformation working right.

Any suggestions? I can't add photos, unfortunately, because I don't have access to a camera. So...

Edit: Looking closely at the box art... There might not actually be a way for this to work without some hinge I'm not getting. Hm.

That thing sucked!

The alt was cool, which is the only grace to the SWTF line.

I got to admit, the newer SWTFs do look kinda neat.

Yeah, that's it, although it is mistransformed.

The shoulders slide up to be proper height, and the top panels can be attached to said shoulders to add even more bulk.

With that said, he has a pear-shaped body which doesn't help him much in the aesthetics department. Hence why the feet are bugging me.

See how the legs are in that picture? On the actual toy, the ridges are on the outside of the shins (not the insides) and the red part of the foot faces inwards instead of outwards.

I am sure I could disassemble this guy to get him looking like the picture, but that would stop all possibility of him transforming right I fear.

^ Not if you mod well.

That doesn't seem to change the fact that I can't rotate things right. I mean.. It's not like I can just reverse the thighs, due to the way that the "skirt" pieces work. Changing just the lower legs would prevent the alt mode from working right. I'm honestly trying to figure out the engineering of this thing to make it look right in both modes, and failing. The lack of pictures isn't helping any, I know. But perhaps someone else out there with this toy can help me take a whack at it?

This is how my V-Wing is and it stands fine:

Is yours different?
