behold galvatron come here

The only toys that I get from both are the re-issues. The way I decide is who has it out first. Rodimus and Dirge will be mine in about two weeks. Then, Targetmaster Hot Rod will be mine. Then nothing for a while 'cause I already have Sideswipe and Skidz.

where the crap is BG?! He should be here for this.

Maybe he is scared.

i just finished reading your columns and i gotta say your points are very weak, infact most of your articles are complementing takara, you say multiple times takara makes better products so i want you here, now, to convince me why hasbro is better.
Well your certainly entitled to your opinion :thumb What excatly do you feel are weak points?

However, the point of articles isn't that Takara always makes inferior products, but rather what Hasbro charges is far more worth the cash than what Takara does, thus making it a much better choice. Take two examples:

Alternators ($20) vs Binaltech($45)

Only difference is the incorporation of Die cast and pricing. Now for Alternators, you're getting less of a display piece but more of a durable toy as its plastic allows for more playability. There's also the bonus that there is no chipping problems whatsoever. Alternators are also readly available in stores.

Binaltech is more for display and while it looks nice, its price compared to Alternators is more than $25 + shipping simply due to die cast. Does this make it more worth the cash? I don't think so as the Alternator retains the same playability but at a more reasonable price.

20th Anniversary Prime ($70) vs MP Prime($110)

Lets look at the differences first:

Guns: Black (20th) Silver (MP)

Extra Paint Apps: Battle Damage (20th) None (MP)

Stacks: Shorter (20th) Longer (MP)

Cardboard insert: trailer interior (20th) Trailer exterior (MP)

Box: G1 inspired box with window(20th) Huge box (MP)

With that out of the way, do longer stacks, a bigger box, an inaccurately colored gun, a plain paint job, a cardboard trailer and box all justify import and paying +40 more compared to 20th Prime which offers an accurate gun, extra paint apps and a more justifyable price?

What do you think?

I'm gonna be out for most of the night on a date w/my gf, but Ill be back late night so if you have any other points, ask away and Ill answer them later :)

Maybe he is scared.

Of a guy who's never posted here before saying he disagreed with my points? Come on :tflaugh

Alternators ($20) vs Binaltech($45)

I own both versions of Smokescreen. Paint chipping is not an issue. For me, lack of paint is an issue. I display my toys and I want an as accurate as possible representation of a real life car, in toy form. Binaltech is relatively cheap compared to AutoArt 1/18 scale super high quality cars. It delivers the same joy plus the added bonus that it transforms. Binaltech is readily available online. Plus you can get them earlier.

20th Anniversary Prime ($70) vs MP Prime($110)

The MP Prime debate has been done to death. But I will say I don't need or use the paper trailer but it's a nice bonus. The black gun + blue paint apps, isn't show accurate either. I've painted my grey gun, all black. There was no "battle damage" version of 1984 Prime and I like him just fine. I don't hate that battle damage on Hasbro's version, but I feel it was poorly executed.

Die cast is a nice to have, but not a must. I actually prefer painted plastic because it is more posable. The long stacks DO make a difference for me. I would rather not pay the higher prices for Takara goods BUT if the product is what I desire then I will pay the higher cost. - Regardless of who makes it.

on the alternators vs bt i say most of the expense is in the paint. unlike plastic die cast doesn't come in various colors. takara had to spend money on the paint making sure it covered well. alternators smokescreen is all colored plastic which saves them money on paint, also bt ss has actual side reer view mirrors where the alternators only has silver paint where the mirrors should be. i don't think the fact that you can buy alternators in the store should be a reason why hasbro is better. if so then in japan takara wins hands down. but if i went to the store saw both versions, i would buy a bt for sure. and as wrx-78 said the bt's come out before the alternators do

mp vs 20th

im not an expert but to be sure i would need to know the cost of printing. because mp,'s box is mainly pictures you can't just judge just the toy some of the cost is in the packaging also. i know you all kow about the paper trailer but no one ever mentions how mp has a small booklet with his history and a small card with his stats it nice to have (even though i can't understand it) its all in color, except the instructions on how to transform him but the rest is in color. there are also small details on mp's box like the silver borders and writing, it just makes the box look cleaner to me but, thats only my opinion also the battle damage on 20th op i dont know. is it just me or in the movie wasn't he shot on his left side?:wave

Hasboro Vs Takara? Who the hell cares! If you can afford the Takara releases fine then buy them. If you want the Hasboro releases fine then buy them! They have BOTH givin us the Transformers and we should be happy with what they are both doing. Lets not start nit picking over whos better. But I will say this and thats that I will take Hasboros 20th Anniversary Prime over the Takara release anyday. Why? Because 1 I can afford him and 2 I like the battle damage. Just my thought on this subject. But as Prime would have said in this discussion "One shall stand and one shall fall". So who will it be?

My wallet likes Hasbro.....

in the words of Stan Lee, "Nuff said." :tfgrin

yes it does!

first off the MP convoy box looks like a masterpice. i think window packaging is cheesy for a "masterpiece"

second the smoke stacks look better long than short. 'nuff said.

third i'd rather have the clean optimus it gives him that "off the show room" look the battle damage does nothin for me.

forth i'd much rather have the exterior trailer (how many times did you see it open in the cartoon? i seen it twice. whoopee!)

and fifth who cares if he has a blue or black gun? i don't it just matters that he has said gun.

and that's why i got MP convoy. worth every penny!! hasbro's is just a pretender to the throne!

until hasbro gets the balls to do G1 megatron make mine takara!!
