yeah, the only reason I go with Hasbro is because that is what is made available to me. I'm not gonna shill out the extra bucks to import a Takara. I get my TFs at KB, TRU, Target, and Wal-Mart, and that's fine by me.

All this crap about which company is better is sick. As I said before both companies are giving us TF fans what we want but still some of you are unhappy. Just yesterday my freind got BOTH the Hasboro 20th Anniversary Prime and the Takara one and we compared the two. Besides the short smoke stacks and the battle damage they BOTH are the same damn thing and made the same damn way. And yes Hasboro has metal parts as well so when some people say only Takara has metal parts they are wrong. All this bickering is sickning if you ask me. Hasboro is cheaper yes and I like that fact because I dont have to pay a fortune for a TF. There is room for BOTH companies in the TF world and as I said we should just be happy that we have two companies giving us what we want!!!!

:pfx

Exactly right.

Hasbro may be better but Takara isn't as evil as you guys claim they are. In fact they are not "evil" at all... don't see why you have to get so offensive and even write a whole column about it.

WARNING: RANT AHEAD

Well they're not evil at all. Its not that, its this perception that "Hasbro suxxors! Takara roxxors my boxers" crap that pisses me off, this perceptiion that anything from Takara just HAS to be better than the Hasbro version, that Hasbro could give a ratass what fans want while Takara cares about fans, etc.

That unfair perception is held by many in fandom and it truth, its downright wrong. Most fans seem downright angry about the way Hasbro handles the TF brand and for what? Stuff like shortening stacks, not being able to reissue Megatron because its illegal, no diecast on the cheaper alternators or not having so many paint apps? Then these fans paint Hasbro up as some evil uncaring company. You want that? Go look at Mattel and how they've ruined MOTU, Batman, JLA, basically anything not Barbie and try telling me Hasbro is a bad company

Hasbro is doing a great job and they deserve alot more praise for what they do than some company on the other side of the pacfic who could care less what US fans want.

i never said hasbro was bad, i'm just saying takara makes better quality products. you act like hasbro gives you gold bars at below cost. of corse takara isn't going to do anything for u.s fans, because THEIR PRODUCTS ARE ONLY SOLD IN JAPAN. they know we buy them but they don't sell them to us, online stores do. so you can't blame them and say they do nothing if there is nothing to for them to do in the u.s. let me explain something, hasbro is the american version of takara, so hasbro anwsers our problems. you act like hasbro does things for people in japan. :wtf

How about only Takara caters to Japanese Transfans, while Hasbro is our local fix.

They sell the same product, only with changes to make them sutiable to their own market. Take for example Binaltech/Alternators, while the Binaltech in Japan can have diecast parts, it comes with a tradeoff(chipping paint) while the Alternator doesn't have that problem it has one in of its self(no diecast). It's the market that determines it.

Maybe it's cheaper for Takara to get the diecast metal, since they're right next door to their china production faculities, while Hasbro has to import theirs, they look at the alternative of plastic. And by no means is it some cheap stuff, it's high quality. To people, it seems that Hasbro has dropped the ball, because of short stacks on 20th prime and no G1 Megatron reissue. but that's because of the toy laws that govern EVERY toy company in the U.S. Japan does not have the same laws there and you see the difference.

Hasbro may be better but Takara isn't as evil as you guys claim they are. In fact they are not "evil" at all... don't see why you have to get so offensive and even write a whole column about it.

I never said Hasbro sucks but do take a look at the whole thread and all the SL Galvatron/E Megs, BT/Alternator, MPC/20thOP Threads... there are obviously way more Hasbro supporters saying that Takara sucks/waste of money/smaller/crappier plastic. Don't really see why you have to be so defensive just cause 5% of the collectors prefer Takara.

I don't really see a big difference in both the companies and seriously all the people dissing SL Galv are just as bad as those Takara "my MPC/BT is better than your 20thOP/Alternator" elitists. Everyone has their own freaking opinion and they can spend their money whatever way they choose.

blah blah blah, who really gives a crap about this whole Hasbro vs Takara debate. "Oh no, Hasbro won't release Megatron in America, those jerks." "MP Convoy hasn't had it's stacks castrated, Takara's soooo much better." Please, all this thread is just full of whining. :tftounge

For Hasbro caring about Japan, they don't. I clearly said that Takara is concerned with their market (which is Japan).

TFans that's true. Take a look at all the other boards in fandom such as ADCTalk, Allspark, Transfandom, TFW2005 etc and the "Hasbro suxxors, Takara roxxors my boxers dood!!1!" attitude is alot more prevalient.

As for 20th/ MP compared to SL/Energon, its completely different.20th Prime's difference from MP was shorter stacks and more paint apps. Thats it. It was still the same mold. What Takara did with SL Galvatron was far worse in that they took a completed mold (Energon Megs) shrunk it down (thus creating a new mold). Its bad business as remolding/creating a new mold is very expensive and frankly they are going to have a hard time recouping all the costs as they are going to need to sell boatloads of Galvatrons. There is no denying this was a bad move on their part. It'd be like Hasbro having the mold for Alt Hound and saying "hmmm lets throw this out and make a completely new mold excatly like this except deluxe sized".

Then there is the price. For US fans, the two are excatly the same price (well SL w/shipping is more) and when compared like that its ridicious in that Hasbro's is giving more for your money while SL isn't. If SL Galvatron was say, $28-30 I doubt SL would get slammed so much. But since he is the same price as E Megs, of course ppl are going to bash the SL version.

Ok, interesting ideas!

However:

1/ what I said DID happen. Not in one conversation, but EVERYTHING did happen.

2/ Yes, I DO think that you can judge a lot about a company by looking to its customer service. In fact, that is one of the first things major companies tell their staff (well, those who will be working with customers, anyway). There is way too much choice and demand for products these days. Comapnies have to sell their own Gransdmothers in order to make peps part with their pennies. If Mrs smith feels that hasbro are not "helpful" or "friendly" then she wont buy any more Tfs for young Timmy. "Why dont you buy a nice He Man toy instead?" "No, wanna optimush!" "I cant get you obne, so Skeletor will have to do" "k...."

Ive talked to quite a few UK dealers and although we are all well aware of the problems Hasbro Uk have, with regards to our small, tightly controlled UK market, many still feel Hasbro Uk isnt doing as nearly enough to please customers as say, Hasbro USA or Takara do with their own domestic markets.

Oh, and if you dont believe me when I said I got TWO free Tigertracks, then...well, I dont care! He he!
