Alternators Id like to see

imports are the best because they don't have that many guidelines as to what type of engine can be put into a car as in the states where we have to comply with environmental laws and laws of the road. It would not be practical to have that type of speed in the states cause of our busy highways the engine would be useless unless you can take the time and find a place like the salt flats to really open the engine.

STI available in north america

EVO 8 available in north america

Audi S4 available in north america

BMW M5 available in north america

the problem isnt american emmision laws, its that most american automotive manufacturers are too busy churning out huge SUV's. Lately we are starting to see sporty compacts coming back. Neon SRT-4 is quite fast.

Man I really don’t know what people see in SUV's. 90% of them handle very bad....and even the best of them can’t hope to handle as good as a good sports sedan.

I think people in North America (not all mind u) have lost the love to drive, anyone that truly understands what it means to love to drive would never buy a SUV, they would not be dreaming of one day owning an Escalade but something more link an M5.

I for one hope we get to see a few Alternator cars that aren't your stereotypical sports cars....I would love to see a few sports sedans, and sport compact cars….I really think that would make the line that much more special. :thumb

All engines, foreign or domestic have to be DOT emissions certified. I know this for a fact. Imports must comply with the same rules that the US big three do. Plus they are taxed on top of that because the are not domestic.

Trust me, the power of those cars that Vik mentioned can be put to full use in places other than Bonneville. :D

I think half of it is the mentality that bigger = better. People somehow feel more safe in an suv. Also, its been kinda hamered into them that they might sudenly have to drive through a thick jungle or up a mountain.

SUV's have their purpose, but driving your kids to soccer , or commuting 10 miles too work isnt it.

Im no fan of "traditional" SUV's either. To me, the only "real" SUVs being made are by Jeep (Liberty and GC are pushing it though), the other good ones were canned a long time ago, thanks to the soccer moms. As for SUV drivers not loving driving, I gotta take a little issue with that one too. My '00 TJ isnt fast, but it looks cool and there isnt an offroad obstacle that can contain it. Thing about sedans, sport or otherwise is that they lack style, I dont care how fast they are. Those rear doors dont do a thing for performance, but for my tastes they completely ruin the style. The 350Z is a beautiful car, looks the sportscar part, and will flat run. The Skyline is another, and max out the factory options and Ill put it against the EVO or WRX. Personally I think Mitsubishi are complete morons for not putting the EVO's guts into the Eclipse, or at least a coupe version of the car. You wanna make a sedan, fine. Just give me a choice of bodystyles is all I ask. I have a lot of friends in the tuner scene, and all agree to the performance creds of those 2 cars, but all agree with me that they'll never own a car that is basically the same body style (although mega fast) as their gramma's buick.

The problem also, is most SUV couldnt handle any real off road challenges. Your right in that Jeep and classic land rovers are the only true SUV's, but even they are starting to tailor more too the soccer moms.

The thing about sport sedans is that theyre both practical and fast. You can pick up your kids from school in your STI, then blow the doors off someone at the track on the weekend. yeah the 350 is looks like a sports car (i personally hate the stylings) , but its not as practical with its tiny backseats.

I think being able to destroy someone with something that looks like "grandma's buick" IS stylish.
