Has anybody thought of this before? I think Optimus Prime could make a passable Optimus Primal, which would make a hilarious solution to the Munkey vs Trukk debate.

 

I took off the ladder and re-arranged some parts and I think with a paint job and a little tweaking it could be done and still retain a full truck modebut minus the ladder of course. What do you guys think?

If you left the super mode chest/head off, but leave the super mode hands (and the shoulder launchers) on, then you could shorten the body so the arms would be even longer in comparison, which would look even more gorilla-like.

I'd say take off the chest/head piece and shoulders for Optimus Primal, cuz Primal doesn't have big shoulders. If you leave the shoulders on, you can probably go for Optimal Optimus.

Agreed. If you follow this thing through, you'll doom us all! Optimus wasn't meant to be both trukk AND munky!

... well if you want ape-like proportions you could always switch to another prime ;)

... just about any dx figure can hold those hands, most voyager figs too ... be creative and post some of those combinations !
