is it my imagination or are these new bots nowhere near the asthetic of the last movie

They look crap :shrug

"is it my imagination or are these new bots nowhere near the asthetic of the last movie"

I would agree completely.

The question is are these all actually real movie bots. When Hasbro began making their own later in the line last time to keep the toys coming those didn't really match the aesthetic quite right either.

So far I don't really like any of them. Soundwave almost makes the grade (i suppose I could buy him to paint- the problem being I never found time to paint the ones from the last movie either), none of the rest are even close.

I'm really hoping we just haven't seen the good ones yet...

If these are real movie bots, it's disappointing that Bay felt it ok to totally throw the old designs out the window but now is fine with moving back towards them. (unless of course Hasbro is just getting too lazy to keep up)

I think we are just getting used to the movie robot look. I can see the movie look in some of these new figures we've seen, but they are a bit more traditional. Looks like Hasbro is listening to the fans. Now that the first movie made it believable that the Transformers are alien beings, it's okay to get more old school with them. I'm sure they will still be far more complex in the film though. These three look to be scouts. I just wish they would get the size proportions right. No vendor truck transformer should be scout sized. It would look stupid next to the other movie figures in vehicle form.

They look just like the same details as the Real Gear guys so while they share the movies detailing they are far more typical of the normal style TF toy when it comes to faces and such. So I say dont expect this from actual characters who will get screen time E.G the new head on deluxe BB far more like the CGI model then the last

Personally I like all 3 and I'm tempted to put RollBar in with my classics as maybe a classics Over Load or repaint him as Thunder Clash. the Bike guy has to have one of the best colour schemes when it comes to the alt mode that robot mode I dunno I think its cooler then the old photos but maybe at the same time miss transformed. Detour or what ever his name is is still lookin good

I think everyone needs to keep in mind that these are Scout/Basic size figs.

I recommend everyone gets down to the chill to the out KTHXBAI

I myself like these and look forward to them, these new pics are very redeming to the mistransformed ones from earlier.

I will be buying all that I've sen so far without hesitation.

:tfgrr

God, I hate Movie toys. They generally suffer from the the same issue the G1 toys did during their heyday. They're far too complex for the technology of the time to do their movie/cartoon representations justice, except the new movie toys are lacking the modifier of being seen through "infatuated 10 year old" eyes. There is absolutely no reason for me actively suspend my disbelief and say "hmmm close enough" because I lack the nostalgic and emotional investment in the characters and storyline, and so, they end up being judged on their engineering and attractiveness, which sadly tends to be lacking.
