Hasbro changes the origin every time they want to sell Prime in a new hue of red.

Hasbro shoppers...try blue! It's the new red!

:tflaugh uncomfortably applicable

Can't have Inverted blue/red prime with out NEMESIS INVERTED RED/BLUE PRIME

Created by straxus in the dead universe and powered by the vile dead matrix with the sole evil purpose of selling repaints! and maybe destroying prime or something if he gets around to it.

He may be hired to write the comics by all the companies that have held the license, but he can't impact Marvel's continuity while working with Dreamwave or Dreamwave's while working with IDW. Each licensee means a new continuity, each new continuity means a different Prime, each different Prime means a different origin to who that character is. Unless the licensee were to somehow gain ownership of the previously published works of the other companies, they can't interact that closely.

That's just how it is.

Thats not true, Dreamwave's continuity is basically brought over to IDW.

Not really. There are similarities, but the two continuities are distinctively different.

For example, War Within didn't happen in IDW. We know this because the events of IDW'S Megatron: Origins and Spotlight: Blurr tell different versions of the start of the Great War compared to DW's War Within.

Also, DW's continuity featured Unicron, while Furman has said neither Unicron or Primus will appear in IDW's continuity.

Just because Furman didn't have plans for Primus and Unicron to "appear" in IDW's ongoing continuity, does not mean that they don't exist. Primus' name is invoked in Megatron: Origins, for example. Also, The Thirteen, which is being touted by Furman himself, as well as Hasbro, as being the "definitive" origin story for the entire TF mythos, will apply to all continuities past, present, and future. And remember, Hasbro owns everything.

On Primus and Unicron; they characters invoking Primus' name in Megatron: Origins was done in the style of someone saying "Dear God" or "Jesus Christ."

As in it's not an indication that there is a Primus floating out in space somewhere, just that the TF belief structure contains a divinity called Primus, and that sometimes startled believers invoke his name.

Given that Furman is overseeing the entire IDW continuity (for now), I'll take his word as canon when he says "no giant kung-fu planet formers."

And the original 13? I'm guessing that it only applies to IDW's continuity and won't try to explain EVERY continuity. Why am I assuming this?

Well first off because assuming there's a "multi-verse" that characters can cross through from one continuity to another= :fail + :ghey

Secondly it seems IDW realizes that, in that they haven't tried to shoehorn a multi-verse story into their continuity yet.

So I'm guessing the original 13 story will tell about the origins of the TF race as far as IDW's continuity goes. And hey, if it doesn't have anything to do with Unicron or Primus, alright by me.

And we all know that the TF Wiki is the only legitimate source of Transformers information.

Yes. This.

Well first off because assuming there's a "multi-verse" that characters can cross through from one continuity to another= :fail + :ghey

Not that Furman didn't do just that in the Armada series.

He did, and it was :fail tastic.

But that was with DW. There has been no hinting of any such story line with IDW, and I hope it stays like that.

My point was more that Furman's love of revisiting his favorite plot concepts means the multiverse card is in his deck, just waiting to be played...

I'm not sure if that was Furman's doing though, or if it was Hasbro mandated to get the Universe line of the time some love.

Wasn't the whole point of the original Universe story line that there was a Multiverse and a bunch of characters from different universes were tossed into one big fray?

but hey it could be worse, Try muddling through the DC comics Multiverse, and then ask "Which DC comics Multiverse?"
