Why didn't Ultramagnus take on the name prime after he got the Matrix and became leader. I thought it was a law or something.

I may get flamed for this, but I still think the whole "Autobot leader title" thing is stupid stupid stupid. Not only does it take away from the coolness of Optimus Prime's name, but it created what is possibly the worst TF name of all time: "Rodimus Prime."

 

Perhaps some of you aren't old enough to remember G1, so it's hard to convey just how goofy the name "Rodimus Prime" sounded the first time I heard it. I was like, "so what was Optimus Prime's old name? 'Hot Opt'?" It was just embarrassingly awful.

I was thinking after I wrote that, Ultramagnus reluctantly took the Matrix in the first place. He probably didn't feel worthy of such a title.

 

I was going to ask why didn't Hotrod become Rodimus when he first touched the Matrix but I can't remember if he became Rodimus before or after he put his fingers into the grips.

i forget where i read this, but they said that those that the matrix selected as leader were reformated by the matrix and renamed to have prime in their name, optronix(orion pax if you prefer) became optimus prime, hot rod became rodimus prime, magnus was not selected as leader by the matrix or the council so he was not reformated so he didnt need a new name, basically, he was only meant to be temporary and everyone knew it

All I have to say is I'd be very interested to see a more modern, Dreamwave comic book interpretation of the events of the movie.

I thought that's what they were doing eventually. I mean Starscream already ejected Megs into space saying"Oh, how it pains me to do this."

Yeah, but the only catch 22 to that is Alpha Trion. Unless he was once known as Alphamus Prime.. actually that doesn't sound to bad..

another catch is Rodimus had no confidence in himself and was lame as leader so he couldn't be Primus reborn.

Alpha Q never put the Matrix in his chest... he just kept it til he found someone worthy(that sounds like Orion Pax to me lol)

Transformers continuity with in G1 alone truely sucks! We have Alpha Trion, Primus, the Matrix, the creation Matrix, The Matrix of Leadership Vector Sigma, Sparks, Unicron, the monkey looking guy that suposedly created Unicron and Quintisons. All this making for some serious confusion and headaches. That's why I decided to live with what ever Dreamwave decides to throw at us since it seems to be the most thought out continuity so far next to Beast Wars.
