Recommended Posts

Walmart had him for $19.96...used my $5.00 off McD coupon ($19.99 or more...they took it!). Final price, plus tax = $16.16! :clap

To the naysayers...keep talking yourself outta liking this figure...more for the Blitz-fans! That would actually help out a lot as scarce as this figure is right now!

Lol I got Blitzwing a week ago here in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He's hit here in full force. Great toy. Just a great toy

Got mine from HTS today. He has his faults, but I can't help thinking he's great. His jet mode has some issues with gaps (that they could've fixed with a slide joint or two.) I also think his treads could've been made smaller to let them mesh with the jet mode better. (This would've made his treads rectangle shaped [give or take] instead of triangle shaped. ) They also don't lock in very well during jet mode and not at all during tank mode (but that's an advantage, I think. Sort of like shocks on tires, they're movable to adjust a bit for rough terrain.)

The jet mode issues I can accept because of Blitzwing's insanity. As in, "It flies, but it doesn't look so pretty."

Galactic Power and Abilities sounds like a list of positive things, but on Blitzwing they're listed as faults. (No doubt flawed on purpose to handicap the raw :awsum of Blitzwing.)

The tank mode is made of win. (G.I. Joe fans will recognize a definite HISS feeling from it.) There's a gap issue where the wings fold together, but I quickly stopped noticing it. Could've been fixed by adding a couple of latching pieces on the wing edges.

The helmet should've been a solid piece of plastic instead of the flexible rubber material.

Also, the head consists of a center post on which the helmet sits, and just below the helmet the faces are mounted on the post as a separately turnable piece. The problem comes in when you find out that the center post itself is turnable, and that different positions give it slightly different angles.

Perhaps this was so the head could lean one way or the other, since it's not on a balljoint?

Either way, it's a dumb idea. The post is near impossible to turn precisely unless you take off his head. You'll get it in just the right position so it lines up good in jet mode, and then during transformation it turns slightly on you, causing the post to sit at an angle.

(I think I'm going to have a go at it with some super glue to stop the center post from moving.)

It would've been nice for the cannons to fold down over his shoulders in alt-mode, and it looks like there's the shape of a hinge molded in, but it's just the shape of one. Looks like it was tossed out so the cannons can fire the projectiles.

The last thing I should mention is the wings get in the way of the arm articulation, but I'm thinking of a way to fix that.

Sorry this review is kind of rambling, but it's not so much a review as a few words because Hunter complained that people haven't said much about Blitzwing after they get Blitzwing.

It's 5ish a.m. here and I haven't been to bed yet because of video games and almost (but not quite) too much tequila. Jose Quervo and pepsi. Woo, spellcheck!

Oh, and here's a picture from earlier in the day when I wasn't so wobbly.

Captioned either, "You missed! Hahahahahahaha!"

or

"Mr. Socko says my othzer hand iz lonely. Let me see your head!"

Thanks Matt!

Urgh, no problem. And no more tequila for me.

:zombie (That's the best one to describe a headache right now.)

Also, a quick correction to the post above.

Either way, it's a dumb idea. The post is near impossible to turn precisely unless you take off his head helmet. You'll get it in just the right position so it lines up good in jet mode, and then during transformation it turns slightly on you, causing the post to sit at an angle.

For a while there, I thought Blitzwing's head was mounted at a wrong angle, till I was brave enough to just pull the helmet off and got a clear view of how the head works.

Oh, and something from the action pose thread that I've seen a lot of people on the internets wondering about.

Hey Booker, have you figured out why the purple pieces on his forearms are spring loaded all clicky-clicky like??? I don't get it. I thought maybe there was a way to attach the launchers there but no luck and I can't see them having any purpose eat all in either one of his alt modes.

It took me a while (and a lot of poking around and removing pieces) to figure out but they aren't there to give volume to his arms in robot mode like some people have suggested. (They would care about his arms being slightly flatter about as much as they cared about huge treads on the jet mode.)

Rather, they give volume to his arms in one mode, and lack of it in the other.

In jet mode, his wings have to stay level with the shape of the plane, cause, well, planes do that. But because of the way they designed the them (and that awful gapped area), the tank turrent needs the pieces that the wings are attached to to sort of decompress a bit or the turret won't sit level with the tank.

So in jet mode they are helping the wings to stay level, and in tank mode they compress to let the turret fit properly.

You can tell by removing one of the wing pieces in both modes, as well as observing how the shoulder pieces sit at the front of the jet mode and the back of tank mode.

I'm working on a way to alter the joints where the wings sit. More on that when I figure out the best way for that. (I'm also working on giving Leader Bulkhead a wrecking ball and individually articulated claws, but that's halfway done and I jump around on projects sometimes.)

So, anyone have a preferable caption to that picture?

It's not 'Slag with Bulkhead's decapitated head', but I was amused. :) Especially with the altered facial expression of the Headmaster \ puppet.

The hands are perfect for crossing his arms and looking rather annoyed. :)

Looking annoyed is the best way to look busy and right now Blitz looks really busy. :tflaugh

I am so behind with this line it hurts.

Definitely want a Blitzwing but my sights right now are on V Prime, Soundwave and LC Megatron.

Than maybe I'll get Blitzwing.
