Another thing I don't like about the Orion Pax story is we never say him take on the Matrix but when him was up graded he took on the name Prime. Also the war had been going on way before Optimus got the Matrix and became Prime but on the Orion episode they made it look like the war had just started.

as much as I loved the Marvel UK continuity, Dreamwave does a better job of adding background info to a character's origin.

I liked the Orion Pax origin, but I think the Dreamwave War Within version is far superior. And the WWI origin doesn't have the paridox issue with aerialbots saving Orion. Optimus helped create the aerialbots, and the aerialbots helped alphatrion in the creation of Optimus, by saving Orion Pax. So in a since Optimus helped create himself in the cartoon. :tftongue

I used to use Machine Wars Prime as Orion Pax and have him get "rebuilt" in the games I played with my brother. It worked so well we "rebuilt" him a couple dozen times. :)

DW for me. It includes all of the elements that should be there.

The name "Optronix" was never mentioned in the story itself, only in interviews with Furman.

 

As for the Marvel version, the only origin I can think of off-hand would be the UK 1984 or 1985 annual story "And there shall come... a leader". Nothing much revealing about Prime, only the Autobot council deciding they need one single military leader (which sort of contradicts later stories that mention Prime's precedessors such as Sentinel Prime).

 

Effectively, the Dreamwave version is the best of them all - it has the Autobot council, features pre-Prime Prime and the Matrix. All the other versions were missing one or two of those elements.
