Yep, it was the first one I saw and I grew accustomed to it :D

I like Dreamwave's stories better than the cartoon. I've never read Marvels TF comics. Due to what I felt were ugly images and I didn't have enough money as a child to buy them.

I like the orion pax story, but that optronix looks hard

most people have only seen the orion pax one, the only reason i saw it is because they rereleased it on dvd

The orion pax version is less believable in my view. Dreamweave has worked out the background way better.

I prefer the War Within version, mostly due to the full utilization of cybertronian vehicle modes, something that was never really addressed in the cartoon, or for that matter the Marvel Comic. The Dreamwave comic allows for a better understanding and a more realistic set up, over the cartoon.

The only thing that I have a problem with is the name Optronix

Plus as LM said Orion Pax was a Puss.

Was Optronix his name? I have to read the books again. I must have dismissed that.

The name "Optronix" was never mentioned in the story itself, only in interviews with Furman.

As for the Marvel version, the only origin I can think of off-hand would be the UK 1984 or 1985 annual story "And there shall come... a leader". Nothing much revealing about Prime, only the Autobot council deciding they need one single military leader (which sort of contradicts later stories that mention Prime's precedessors such as Sentinel Prime).

Effectively, the Dreamwave version is the best of them all - it has the Autobot council, features pre-Prime Prime and the Matrix. All the other versions were missing one or two of those elements.
