Jazz Back for Transformers 2? + New Set Pics Of Prowl?

Recommended Posts

Good point. It seems that the easiest way to spot the vehicle mode of a movie TF is to look for a vehicle that has been modified for copyright purposes so Hasbro can make a toy of it. There's hardly any other reason why a vehicle would be modified in such a manner.

It's modified because Bay thinks it looks cooler, period. The deal with GM no doubt includes the rights to make accurate Transforming action figure representations of its vehicles for all transformer characters in the movie.

I don't know, practically all of the Autobots alt-mode were modified in some way from the official product. I don't mean just giving them a fancy paint job, but modifying the bodies too.

Right. To make them look cooler for the movie.

How is not abundantly clear to you that Bay does not care about what Hasbro has to do to make toys? Bay cares about his movie looking cool. The vehicles were altered for that reason and that reason alone.

The title of this thread is misleading. It suggests that there are pics of the pontiac on the set.

Prowl FTW BTW

The vehicles were altered for that reason and that reason alone.

Maybe it was a little from Columne A and half a dozen of another?

Dude, go to your local toy aisle. Find a Movie Transformer figure for a character seen in the film, and based on a GM vehicle. Pick up the box, flip it over, and look at the GM symbol on the packaging. Copyright is not the issue for the modifications. Hasbro and GM worked together on this project.

Any modifications were about making the Autobots stand-out and look cool, not about avoiding copyright issues.

While I fully expect Hasbro to produce the "Chinese Police Car" toy, ala Landmine, Stockade, and Longarm, I don't expect it to transform in the movie.

I've been wrong before, though.

Well, I read on Wikipedia, though I take it with a grain of salt even though the info is right a decent amount of the time, that either Orci or Kurtzman said there's supposed to be about ten robots on each side.

Ten may seem a little much, but we've been told there will be more robot action since they have more money to work with this time around.

As for Jazz coming back, I'm unsure how I feel. It's neat considering that I like him and being in the sequel might give him time for some character development. On the other hand, it may ruin any and all depth and possible meaning his death was supposed to have in the first film.

Jazz returning = big, fat :fail

Should have stayed dead, as the character irked me in the first place and the toy... don't get me started :puke

The thing that kills the police car as Transformer idea for me is that I have a hard time imagining that Bay would want to make a robot out of a police car from another country that is marked like it is. Bay prides himself on being Mr. America Blow 'Em Up Guy. He's very proud to have the relationship he has with out military and in displaying real American heroism in as over-the-top and cartoony a manner as possible in all his films.

I don't think he's actively avoiding it due to racism or trying to make a political statement or anything - I don't believe he thinks in those terms when it comes to storytelling. I just honestly think it would never occur to him for any Transformer to not be a 100% American car, truck, or military vehicle.

But again, I've been wrong before.

Well despite being a Chinese police car it's still a Chevy. If anything it's pro American because it implies that this Chinese police department is opting to us an American vehicle.

If it is Prowl I suspect the Chinese markings will be used to distinguish him from Barricade in the inevitable "Police Car vs Police Car Throwdown."

As for Jazz, here's hoping it's only for flashback purposes.
