Jazz Back for Transformers 2? + New Set Pics Of Prowl?

Recommended Posts

I still don't see the problem people have with this being Prowl.

Fancy paint/modifications aside another good reason to suggest this as being more than just another random vehicle on the set is truthfully there are no random vehicles. Especially Police vehicles. When Transformers 1 was being made Barricade the Saleen Mustang was the only vehicle ever seen of it's type. Though several more did make it into the final film at one point or other they all looked relatively normal for police cruisers. Bay may like the vehicles to look awesome on screen but he's not going to budget in flashy paint jobs/heavy mods for vehicles that still have to remain somewhat realistic and don't take up a lot of screen time. The only real exception if any is Landmine who was characteristically part of Sector 7s arsenal.

Also if he's going to feature a persuado US/Japanese Chevy Malibu Police car (not exactly common place in Japan where everything is probably a Honda) and one at that (opposed to a fleet) I honestly don't see any other conclusion one can draw.

Lastly if it is just a regular on stage vehicle why the hell would Hasbro not want to cash on the characters long lived popularity as a toy as opposed to just naming it something like Hans Cuffs or Nightstick?

I'm betting the three wheeled vehicle will be more likely a fabrication by Hasbro rather than an actual in movie character than this being Prowl.

If they both end up being full transforming characters in the movie I definitely will not complain.

Autobot insignia visible on the fender.

Who's got a problem? There's a difference between having a problem with this being Prowl and just not thinking they're going in that direction.

FWIW, I have zero problem if this ends up being Prowl. I'm just not holding my breath over the idea.

Chinese and China. But whatever.

Oh, I have no doubt that even if this car isn't Prowl in the movie, it will be Prowl on the toy shelves, but I said that before. I do worry it looks a tad too much like Classics Prowl's vehicle mode, but the robot mode will undoubtedly be entirely different.

I don't think anyone will.

wow if that is prowl its a total fail. I would have thought a C6 ZR1 would have been the logical choice but a family 4 door with a police deco no thanks

But it's GM sponsored so this is about as good at gets.

Waits for Sideswipe to be featured as a Fiero.

The thing that kills the police car as Transformer idea for me is that I have a hard time imagining that Bay would want to make a robot out of a police car from another country that is marked like it is.

Don't you think that maybe this is meant to be a homage to RiD Prowl, whose toy had japanese markings on the doors?

Not really. I think it's got Chinese markings because it is, in the context of the film, a police car operating in China by Chinese police. As soon as you set a scene in China and have the police show up, those markings are a foregone conclusion.

Besides, RID Prowl/Car Robots Mach Alert is a fairly obscure character, Transformerly speaking. I'd be shocked if Bay had ever heard of/seen that specific character.

If that's the case Bay :fail Transformers school. :tflaugh

Japanese marking aside if you zoom in on the pic it appears that smudge/decal on fender is indeed an autobot insignia. If not I have no idea what else it could be.

Also homages/references is what made the first one work as well as it did for some people so maybe he's appeasing the fans by painting up Prowl as closely to his G1/alt incarnation as he has.

I bet production art isn't too far behind. There already have been web sightings of both Prime, and Barricade during early production.

:awsum

You know, I was doubting the Jazz return because there'd be no reason for his VA to be on set, so I figured the news was bogus...but then someone on the Allspark mentioned something that got me thinking: What if the Autobot's VAs are their "holo-drivers" in the sequel?

That'd be cool, no?

I think it would be absolutely, absolutely badass if it was actually Barricade having scanned a new disguise for himself.

This would be my personal favorite idea...

but then again can never have enough decepticons....
