Reissue Predaking

Recommended Posts

I just looked at those released pictures of reissue predaking and I fear it is going to be the "Plastic" version. Look at the photo of the back, specifically at headstrong. The yellow seems to be a perfect color match overall, and lacks the very tight specular hilight that die cast metal takes on when it is painted.

This leaves us with two possibilities.

1) I am wrong. Good.

2) I am right, and Takara has reissued the "Japanese Version," and unfortunately stuck us with plastic. You can get the real plastic version sometimes for less than this reissue is priced at.

Does anyone have confirmation on metal/plastic?

Where is the picture? I have one Predacon from back in the day. It is Rampage, and I beleive it is plastic. I would have to look to be sure.

I'd rather have a plastic reissue than no reissue at all.

metal would be nice, but then Predaking would be a bit too heavy... so it's either plastic or no reissue at all...

i'd rather take the plastic...

How is a reissue any less "real" than a crappy beat up toy with missing stickers that's 20 years old?

I'd take a reissue any day.

i think plastic is the most feasible for combiners. since metal is difficult to deform, it would be relatively difficult to have tight fits for the joints.

were other combiners die-cast?

actually, they all had some die-cast pieces early on...the second editions were all plastic, tho.

The original predaking had parts that were made of metal. Not the whole thing, just parts, like the rhino back, or the waist parts on some others.

it was not "Too heavy" it was just the right amount of heavy :)

My problem with the plastic reissue is that all the others have some kind of Die Cast parts on them, this would be the first all plastic reissue from Takara, and a rather big disappointment for the price they are charging. The predaking mold is a lot easier to make than the complex parts on the more modern figures. The die cast would at least help justify the cost.

Also, you can get a nearly perfect predaking in plastic for $200 or so. It is the metal one that runs much higher. Hell, I have headstrong and Rampage for sale, c9+ if anyone wants them.

I don't why people are complaining over such a thing like this with predaking. The die-cast versions had very little die-cast anyway. Also where would people ever find a complete set of predicons, de-cast or plactic, for the reissue price of 14,250 yen witch is $128.98 to us here. I have my orginal Predaking I got back in the day, but I'm still geting the reissue to have a complete the set. I even ordered two I thought it would great to have the new one as predaking and the old one in their beast modes. Of course the other stays in the box. :thumb You know I even remember where my original predicons came from, my mom bought them for me at a local Magic Mart store in my old home town when I was little. :)
