the real botcon preview is up

B) It seems silly to drop a "real" Transformer into the conflict. The book should show us how this universe is different by focusing on its characters and what they're doing. Anyone getting the Botcon book is going to know how things are supposed to be and pick up on even the tiniest of changes, we don't need Cliffjumper to act as "exposition tell to guy".

Evil Hot Rod is a sweet design, though.

And we wouldn't drop "any" Tf into this Universe. But the idea of this world seen through the eyes of Cliffjumper, the one Autobot who despises the Decepticons more than anyone, well, I think that makes for an awesome story...

Really? Cliffjumper's a scrapper, but I've never seen anything to suggest his hatred of the other side is that intense. Did I miss something?

Also, I didn't say "any" - I'm not questioning the use of Cliffjumper over other regular characters, I'm questioning the use of any regular characters at all.

It's possible he hates them incredibly in one of the 8 or so different versions of G1.

G1 has been done too much. >.<

From the first paragraph on Wikipedia:

Cliffjumper's bio indicates he compensates for his small size by being the first to rush into any dangerous situation, desiring only to beat up "Decepti-creeps". While this has won him the respect of his fellow Autobots, it can occasionally lead him into situations he can't handle. His motto is "Let me at 'em!"

And in the Animated series, Cliffjumper was all over Mirage when he thought he had switched sides...

In the Classicverse he clearly dislikes the Decepticons.

His words and actions throughout the fictions indicate a huge dislike for the Cons'.

But more than any of the other literally hundreds of Autobots?

Whatever, it's moot since I wasn't saying it should've been someone other than Cliffjumper. If you're gonna go that way, Cliffjumper's a fine choice. But I'd rather read a story where the mirror universe characters are the stars, not the supporting players to a character I can hear stories about anytime...that's all I'm saying.

1/ Transformers isnt Milton or Shakespeare, so writing a "mirror darkly" story isnt going to cheapen the franchise.

2/ The story might be interesting. You never know.

3/ The toys are not my cup of tea and seem to be obvious/ill-thought out colour schemes, but at least they are not G1 characters we SHOULD have gotten at RETAIL (unlike last years offensive offering).

As much as I always love Don's art.... I really liked the G2 April Fools :tfsad

Cliffjumper is the Autobot who hates the Decepticons most

who happens to have been made into a Classics toy

I haven't actually read the pages... Scrolled down past them, so he failed.

As cliché as the concept of a mirror universe is, the G2 styled comic actually had me looking forward to this story. It's so campy it fits the concept brilliantly. To bad it was just an April Fools joke.

What the TFCC and BotCon have done to earn my love....

1-Release the remaining three Classics Seekers as exclusives, leaving my collection forever incomplete.

2-Schedule the first BotCon I have a chance at attending right in the middle of exam season.

3-Release previews of an awesome comic that actually makes the club-sponsored fiction worth reading, only to pull back and say "APRIL FOOLS!"

You know, if they were going to do the whole "swap characters from the two universes" angle, I say go old school Star Trek style-swap the two Optimus Primes. Heck, evil Hot Rod already has evil Spock's goatee.

I still find Botcon to be completely free of blame in their Seeker set. No amount of wishful thinking was going to make Hasbro release the same mold six times in a single line at retail. That's never, ever, ever happened (you know, since G1...but the market's changed a lot in 20 years, folks).

Now, P@BC, how about at least teasing me with the notion you guys are considering expanding upon that April Fool's story?
