Takara Encore Series Wish List

Recommended Posts

Was that 1991 reissue the one in the brown/tan box with the word "Classic" on it? Where was that series? Europe? Japan? I run across them on eBay every so often and wonder where/when they originated from.

They were from europe.

As well as Australia and New Zealand. And the boxes were gold, not brown. :)

Thanks! They were exactly what I was thinking of.

BTW Were these faithful reproductions? Are they highly valued/sought after, or are they treated with any sort of inferiority? And is there a list somewhere of all the figures that came out of this series?

BTW Were these faithful reproductions?

Most of them were. Figures like Classic Sideswipe, Prowl, Tracks and Grimlock only differed in copyright stampage. They were otherwise completely identical. Classic Sideswipe is a lot more faithful than Transformers Collection Sideswipe (I have both). Others have really minute mould variations... like the Classic Stunticons, Protectobots and Aerialbots... those reissues are almost indistinguishable from the originals.

Others are more different. The Classic Throttlebots had no rub stickers and no rub sticker indent. Classic Rollbar also had different looking window stickers too.

Most of them are treated the same as their original G1 counterparts. The differences are so small that most fans just don't care unless you're a variant completist.

The ones that are more discerned against are the ones without the rub signs and rub sign indents as they are more visually noticeable as reissues. I've been trying to sell my reissue Rollbar but nobody wants it! :P

Right here (see 1990-1991)

No worries mate. :)

And you're right - I am awesome. And totally humble about my awesomeness too. ;) :P
