Ok, here's the update, and here's about where I'm stuck..I'm running out of general ideas as to how to get these guys to look more like who they're supposed to be..Reflector. The Windcharger figure works much better for the color scheme than the Mirage. I still need to add the stripes to Mirage, but as I'm looking at it, the purple paint I've used that matches the cartoon Refelctor, doesn't so much so work for the contrast it needs to look nice.

I'd really like some ideas if anyone has them. I'd also like to do the Real Gear camera guy, but I'd need more funding to go and buy those 2 guys for them. I've figured if I use the camera guy on Mirage, his chest piece folds back over to his back, and there is a screw right there that can work for monting. And the Windcharger mold has 2 little holes that can have a peg go into there for monting it. So, we'll see..But, more so, I want color info, if anyone has ideas.

nice use of green on mirage btw...

in retrospect i think the silver car would have looked nicer witih the emerald green stripes. that would have let you use purple on the body accents (like the feet for example)

windcharger is complete and utter win FWIW

Thanks..Yeah, maybe green lines would work for Mirage. I'll have to see if he's willing to change his order for it.

Sami, dont be afraid of doing my Mirage soooo looking like Reflector, thats only a name (Hasbro can name Prowl a ninja motorcycle, so do I). I'll send my own Camera Guy (Real Gear Spyshot) to you so you can test the camera lens idea on his chest, but, will it transform back to car w/ this modification? Like, I think it'll touch the floor in car mode.

As for color idea, Mr Smith is right: green would work much better over this silver. Also, I think you need to darker the purple, even it becoming different than Reflector's purple, because the predominant silver asks for stronger colors.

EDIT: the stripes will work on a darker and stronger purple as well.

The purple just seems very off to me

Thats EXACTLY what my mom said (I showed her this work). The purple must be darker.

Look at this now:

Thats only the middle of Spyshot's lens piece, fits between the chest folding pieces. It needs only a few sanding on back screws holes and can be glued w/ some sort of plastic cement. It allows the hood to be folded over it and do not affect anything in car mode - I tested w/ my Mirage.

I can send this piece in an envelope or dont bother you at all and do it by myself when I get the toy. What you think?

By all means, send him..But, if you have the full chest piece, or the full robot, send that so I have a bit more to work with.

OK, I'll send the whole bot

Dont you just love it when you have an idea and ask someone to make it happen, and they produce something so much better than you originally thought. Nice work Sami. Ill forward that $ to get the spyshot guy.

As for the GT, I agree that a more bold purple is probably needed to stand out. Also, if the hood is being discarded on the chest in place of the lense, why not utilise the flaps on the chest (the orange bits on hotrod there) to pin the lense in place? they could be filed back to fit better and still be completely removable and show more green on the chest then

Regards

Glad you're liking..Now just then one last bit of approval from you both for my ideas on how to do it all..

Mirage..You could use a pin of sorts, if you don't mind the hood being removed and attach the lense with a longer pin to go with the hood joints. Or, he has a screw right between the 2 chest flaps, I could figure out a way to make a mount that can pop the lense on and off--the hood would just fold onto his back. You'd get the connector pieces holding the hood from chest to back up around his head, sure, but no loose pieces. I'll let you decide which way you want me to go on that Brazilian.

Icanfly, your version, Windcharger has 2 little holes in his upper chest, where it looks like pegs should go in. I can make a little system with soddering wire or something, that can go thru the lense and then bend into there to hold it in..Might not be the most solid of attachments, but, it won't be anything permanent to affect the transformation, or I can glue it in and make it stay--Or, also I can use the 2 screw areas at the lower chest, but will again, if permanently bonded, affect the trasnformation...Let me know what you want.
