lets just swallow the pill now: The Bot modes most CERTAINLY will look like the character.

Expecting anything different is just daft.

tell that to Japanese mecha, a robot with molded hair just looks wrong

just as long as it isn't mechs that look like the pilot. that's the primary reason i don't own a single swtf
Which is the reason I have all but one Megamorph, and 10 SWTF's Whats wrong with a mech lookin like its pilot? Surely Spidey would want his mech to look damned close to him, and not some lame leopard..
if spidy turned into a space craft like leopardon I would get such a fan bonner
LIKE but please PLEASE no stupid cat head for no reason...

Unicrons got a bob with horns sticking through G1 Megatron has a silver Mullet and Screamer has Princess Leia hair... Ok but hair done right on a bot can look like a helmet.

I guess some people still dont understand:

A) Licensed Characters

B) Hasbro's Demographic.

In Japanese mecha stories its the Mecha who are the stars.

FYI - Spiderman and the Hulk have been around a long time, much longer than Transformers and much longer than Jap.Mech.

Make no mistake about it, in this line (much like the SW:TF line) these licensed characters are the STARS. the Transformer/mecha part is just a gimmick. Almost an accessory.

What we should hope for are interesting altmodes, inspired transformations, and please god some QC on the figures. (SW:TFs get one out of three on that list).

This will be a problem only with characters who have humanoid heads. In those cases, the heads always end up looking like that of an android instead of a fully mechanical robot. A guy like the Thing wouldn't be a problem since his head is already pretty inorganic looking.

At any rate, I'm mostly looking forward to the new Iron Man toy since it will probably make a great Transformer-Buster Armor. And unlike the version from the crossover comic, it will actually transform :thumb

This Thread is useless without pictures.

the ironman one i will probably consider getting (if he's been engineered well then yes if not i'll hesitate and not buy)

I find it funny that people are already condemning these without even seeing them.. Take Animated, the look was so vastly different that many said NOT FOR ME, now most are saying YEY Bumblebees cool!

meh, i've always said that the animated toys would suck and i still think so :P

also, these probably will also suck the way the star wars transformers suck, which is why i think alot of people already have an opinion about them as thats what they're expecting. i hope i'm wrong, because i'd love to have more transformers available to me, but i just don't see how they could be cool as they'll more than likely have too much characterization to them which will cause them to just look silly.

I cant understand the hate towards the SWTF line. Accurate vehicles with unique and quite decent robot modes, poseability is lacking in some but for their size they are very poseable. Never mind the fact that each bot even the clones look quite close to their pilot. Hell I dont really like the SW designs in the first place, most seem ripped off from others work hell most were. But I do have a large collection of them.

If nothing else, you have to concede that SWTFs have simplistic Transformation schemes (compared to other figures in the same pricepoint) and are poorly made. They fall apart easily.
