This repaint looks pretty good. Its about time that ALL of the guys who call the shots on repaints arent doing acid before breaking out the color pallete....

Well, you can only have oh so many non show new molds and we've already gotten a decent amount:

Sharkticon

Slugslinger

Grimlock

Swoop

Towline

For all the engineering that goes into new molds, having them featured (and thus being advertised on the show) is very key to sucess as without advertisement, the main audience kids aren't gonna want to get a figure with no personality so that's one reason for repaints as at least the mold is still recognizable

Biggest reason tho is simply that to make money and that repaints are the most cost efficient way to do this as there is no need for new mold energineering. Profits from repaints go towards devolpment of new molds so it all works out

But how do you KNOW these wont be in the show? Maybe they show up later?

the red looks alright, but i will only be getting bulkhead, unless quickstrike really calls out to me when i see him on the shelf or if i see him before bulkhead, which might happen

I think the repaint looks good, but the repaints need to slow down in the main line. I'm guessing there's an increasing number of people who are getting wise to the fact that every new mold is guaranteed to have a repaint somewhere down the line, and less buy the original if they're not keen on the deco as a result. They've got Universe for repaints - I pine for the good ol' BW days when a character upgrade guaranteed a new toy, not a new paint scheme...

Repaint may have some positive/negative result.

I actually like the Blue Divebomb and Blue Battle Ravage.

On the other hands, E. Six Shot(laserwave/shockblast) is just BAD.

Well, I did like Inferno V/RoadBlocker.(as well as the artfire custom figures posted in TFormers.com)

Takara is releasing Sharkticon and Towline (as well as some repaints like Energon Strongarm and Offshoot) as USA Editions, which mean that they won't be on the show as in that case they would come out in Superlink packaging.

Hasbro themselves at OTFCC said that Slugslinger, Grimlock, and Swoop will not be featured on the show. Chances are that Hasbro is releasing several repaints that will not be on the show as well.

I'm okay with repaints, but this is too much. From what I've seen, only five Energon molds have not been repainted yet for the line among all toys that have been widely released. They are Arcee, Skyblast, Scorponok, Downshift and Demolishor (Sharkticon and Towline not counted yet, since they are in limited release only while Downshift is out in SL). Not to mention all those Armada repaints that we will see. I thought they will decrease the repaints in the main line since they already have Universe for that. Guess I was wrong.

I am a bit baffled as to why we haven't seen anything on the Scorponok and Skyblast repaints, perhaps they are saving them for later assortments?

Anyway, what Armada repaints? The mainline Energon isn't going to see any Armada repaints (aside from wave 1 filler), and the repaints that were shown at OTFCC are for bulk store exclusives (Costco and Sam's Club). The only reason they are getting Energon packaging is to help boost their sales by tying in with the core line.
