BW was the life line that resurrected Transformers in the 90's. IMHO the best animated show ever, great toys and a very complex storyline. But i gotta admit that i was a little reluctant at first. But then I got hooked, the rest is history.

It's my personal favorite line, both toys and show.

The toys interested me because they we're several times more posable in robot mode then the original transformers and that was something that I really wanted as a kid. Transformers that are actually action figures. I Was reluctant with buying the toys at first seeing how I was like 17 when they came out. Worse mistake ever! I saw the first couple of episodes and I really liked it but there wasn't a steady show time where I live. In 98 transmetals really attracted me and I bought transmetal Rattrap with the first 2 episodes of season 2. After watching them I was 100% hooked and had to see them all and buy more figures. Next I was pissed that I missed out on the Gorilla/T-Rex, Primal/Megatron and the original cast of toys(with the exception of Inferno.Lucky).

I liked the show. I wasn't buying any toys at the time, so I had no interest in the Beast Wars toys, not to say that they weren't good.

The beast wars were my favorite line so far, they made a show that appealed to all audiences instead of alienating the older audience like in Armada and Energon. The toys were super poseable, had great articulation, looked like what they were supposed to transform into, and had one hell of a perfect show, action figure representation.

The largest group in my collection, is made up of Beast Wars, Beast Wars Neo, Beast Wars Second, and Some beast machines.

Transformers beast wars is what brought me back into the Transformers world, without it I would be a very rich man right now. DAMNIT.

THe show had the 2nd best fighting sequence which was between dinobot and the predacons. The first being optimus and megatron in the MOVIE.

IN beastwars the characters were really well fleashed out and were themselves similar to some from G1, Dinobot's death was some of the most effective animation i have ever seen. + the G1 refrences and the embracing of the past were part of what made this line great. one more thing 3D G1 Autobots and Decepticons, when i saw that ep i couldn't help but look for my fave bots

I cant stand Beast Wars, but I appreciate what they did for the TF world. Explanation:

Beast alt modes, whether organic, mechanical, or something in between make no sense if you already have a robot mode. Its totally redundant, like a triple changer with both a jet and helicopter alt mode. And besides, Im a car guy. Cars and trucks, even jets and tanks are WAY more interesting than cats and dogs.

But on the other hand....

G2 was going nowhere, so there had to be something fresh.

BW continued on the poseable robots theme. G2 started the trend althouh BW gets all the credit.

Some BW robot modes were cool looking. The mutated head molds and the asymetrical transformations were pretty cool I thought.

The show was way more thought out than G1 ever was, the CGI was cool and the writing wasnt insulting on your intelligence. Still, I just cant get into a show where I dont care about the characters, and a robot that turns into a rat just doesnt grab me.

Bottom line:

While I cant stand any of the toys or the characters, if not for BW, the vehicular TF craving wouldnt have gotten built up like it did, and no Alts, RID, or Energon which are great lines. The poseability, detail, and asymetrical TF'ing wouldnt have been there also. So in short, BW didnt appeal to me at all, but contributed to the greater good by helping renew interest in the line.

Beast Wars was perhaps the best show to bear the name Transformers. The line was cool, a new style was used, Beasts instead of vehicles. Which I thought was cool and still think IS cool.

I thought the show was great, excellent animation and a great story. I agree alot with what Outrider 74 said, as animals, they still had to walk everywhere until some got 3rd modes in transmetals. I myself also prefer large armies but they kept the action rolling along nicely.
