Update on my Prime and minibot:

The metallic paint on the grey parts looked a bit dull, so I painted them with black paint instead:

I gave the cannons the same dirty look so they are blending with the rest:

every time I see this thread, I think "what's Prime afraid of?"

Prime looks ok but i dont feel like it looks battle damaged, it really just looks like silver paint has been spilled onto him. If you took the dremel or a knife to him and made it look like the metal work has been scarred and damaged it would look more convincing..like these:
